99 Postal *and I am new

Recommended Posts

*Also I am originally from Oregon. Lived there 20 years, so I am long over due on owning a green legacy wagon*

So I can't really say if this is a project or a build or anything. For now its my DD and snow machine. Has a little abuse. I may make it look better I may leave it. I like driving it. I needed something to commute in and this seemed interesting for what I was willing to pay for.

^Ha it is my shifter Kart. Fully Built CR80 motor, Built trans, GP Kart 125cc Chassis. I am learning to drive the kart and be competitive with less power, then I will upgrade the motor. Kind of silly, but it is the way I like to learn.

I am thinking I may get legacy gt parts or maybe even some outback parts for it. It is kind of a second hand smoke project for now. I have a Datsun 240z I am doing a bunch to so I want it done first. Eventually I would really like to dig into this. I also need to find out how much rust is really on the body and things of that nature.

Those areas actually look pretty good. I need to pressure wash the thing as well as the engine bay. Being a mail vehicle you can imagine they probably never did anything but a drive through car wash. I would assume I can find parts at junkyards pretty easily?

you shouldnt have to worry about rust then. Most things you can find at junk yards for our cars. There might be a few things that are different like dash bcuz it is a RHD car. Body parts are all the same for the most part within out year 96-99.

The awesome thing abotu our cars is a ton of WRX/STi stuff fits our cars, mostly suspension and exhaust with midpipe extensions.

Cool. Yeah I want the gt hood, maybe an outback bumper. I really dont want to spend a lot on this as I am trying to finish my other car. I would like to make this really a cool unique car though. It is very nice and usable.

Thanks. I cleaned it up today. Restuck the trim, painted the wheels, pulled the rubber strips off the roof, and painted all the bits and pieces that were pealing etc.

I think it looks way better.

Alright so today I went back to the Pick n Pull and grabbed the rack I started to pull as they were closing.

I put it on in the parking lot and drove it home.

When I got home I was really unhappy with the fit/ old holes from the old rails. So I pulled the rack back off, and measured the distance between mounts so that I could fill the space in with the old rail. I cut the old rail to the measurements, filled in all the extra holes with a 3M putty, put on the old rail, then remounted the rack on top of it. I think it looks a lot better now. I even pulled the center strips off the legacy and screwed them into my roof. Oh and I washed it too.
