DRL Disable, in 10 minutes

Recommended Posts

I tried to pull apart the harness to get it out of there, but had trouble and was worried I would unhook everything else. So I decided to snip it! :)

I just traded in my Leggy with DRL's disabled and no one questioned it. But I can always add a splicer back to it before I trade it to enable them again if I had to.

Hey guys am i dumb, but i think the '08 DRL are the high beam lights?

Well the high beam housing part of the lamps... I dunno.

You are right. Subaru moved the DRL's to the highbeam housing in the '08 cars. I'm not sure it's really even necessary to disable them if you want to install HID's now.

For clarification, the 05-06 models just had DRL's in the low beams. In '07 they had DRL lowbeams and parking lights (front and back). In '08 they changed again to just DRL's in the high beams.

I have an '08 and what Dave said is correct for mine. I don't understand the point of the steering wheel switch though? You turn it to on and the front corners and brake lights come on, but what's the point? Is this supposed to be some kind of german-like fog setting without the fogs?

I really just want to kill the DRL altogether but it sounds like there's some confusion here in regard to the 08's...

And just for clarification, we're talking the white clip that's semi-visible below the fuse panel along the left side under the dash? All I do is pull it and voila? I could just pull it and probably plug it back in with no issues, but I want to be sure before trying. After all, the car is only 5 days old :)

Hey Town,

I've got a 5 day old 08 as well, and I just disabled the DRL today. I followed the instructions in the first post, and eventually came to the connector it describes. I don't remember if the connector housing was green, but DRL was printed on the label along with something else. The two plugs going into it were color coded the same as in the first post - one white, one black. Pulled the white plug, tied it up to avoid rattling, and all has been well so far.

I drove the folks that were with me to dinner, and nothing adverse has happened. The headlights and other associated things appear to be operating as expected.

I have a problem disabling DRL on 2006 Legacy 2.5 NA Automatic, when i unpluging white connector from DRL unit i have highbeam and corner lights working, but have no lowbeam. Tried to cut BROWN wire, in this configuration no lights are working at all... Read all similar threads on this forums and found nothing that could help me. Maybe someone had this problem?
