David E
I did search and did not find any threads on lifting an Outback. Anyone have any experience / advice on lifting an Outback? Tks.
wish
use forester suspension
thedeadhp
Going off of what wish said, get forester xt struts and they should bolt right on, I think its a 1-1/2 inch lift. Look up lifting WRX and theres alot more on there. we use the same suspension as GD based imprezas.
twisty
http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/1996-subaru-legacy-l-wagon-awd-4-lift-193333.html this guy did it to a L wagon. im gonna do forester struts, probably ironman springs http://www.subtle-solutions.com/product_info.php?products_id=351 and likely spacers http://www.subtle-solutions.com/product_info.php?products_id=479 as well. and mebbe trailing arm spacers to fix the offset http://www.subtle-solutions.com/product_info.php?products_id=398 and then get a bigger tire. and maybe new, longer axles. and maybe a bit more torque. and a good stereo, or a built in kuh-kuh-kuh-coolah
David E
I guess my further question is will the Forester struts raise an Outback? I know they will lift a "regular" sedan or wagon..
Brighton96
I guess my further question is will the Forester struts raise an Outback? I know they will lift a "regular" sedan or wagon.. In my experience, installing Outback suspension on a normal legacy wagon or sedan will bolt right in and will lift it about and 1-1.5in BUT then the struts will rub in the strut towers. thedeadhp
They could, but not by much. the biggest "lift" the v2.0 Gen 2 outback has is that it has a few spacers in the suspension and drive line that make it more capable of being lifted. Safely that is.

My car is a Legacy wagon, NOT an Outback and I'm not sure what parts were on the car when I got it because the PO had it lowered on coilovers and before selling it to me he threw on junkyard struts. But I went to Outback struts and mounts but retained the junkyard coil springs and now the base of the coil spring mount rubs the inner strut towers on the rear and then the upper coil spring mount rubs the inner strut tower on the fronts. twisty
weird. i have an outback and a L wagon. and a GT sedan. those things are interchangeable across the board, as far as ive found so far. hell, the 98 two piece headlights fit on my 95 L wagon, even has the square holes already in the frame for the pieces that didnt exist yet. nickramsey539
I lifted mine. Foresters are about the same hight as outback so idk why people use forester struts. Il get pics of my car in a bit Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
twisty
ive always wondered if the struts had the same clearance for tires from outback to forester, i am going to measure both when i start my forester project. the only thing that would sway me either way is if there is a difference in tire clearance between the two, but im not holding any high hopes for it since they are both at about 7.5" of clearance. mainly just a curiosity that my brain needs me to find out.
