Legacy05GT
I purchased the STi Trunk Lip Spoiler from kingofimports.com. Here is what i recieved. Obsidion Black spoiler, 4 nuts, 2 plastic nub things, 1 zip ties, 1 black sticker(for existing 3rd brake light), paper template(japanese), and installation iinstructions(japanese)
Legacy05GT
First I had to peel back the lining of the trunk so i would have access to the underside and so i can locate the brake light plug for testing The "Auxilary" brake light plug was easily found (using the Tear-down manual, thanks Jedi). Legacy05GT
Since i did this on my own, i had to wedge a brush between the drivers seat and the brake pedal. The brake light worked fine and i was able to move on.
Legacy05GT
This paper template had to be positioned perfectly so that spoiler would be straight. Unfortunatly all measurement details were in japanese, the only number that i had to work will was 200MM, which i'm assuming is supposed to be the distance from the edge of the trunk. That would be easy except for the fact that there was no straight edge or line to reference by.
Legacy05GT
Using some high-school math, i was able to tape out a perfect rectangle for refrence. I marked out the posision of the holes after i matched up the template.
Legacy05GT
After measuring and re-measuring about 50 times, i drilled the first holes using a 1/8" bit.
Legacy05GT
This was followed by stepping up the bit size until i could easily mock-fit the spoiler on the trunk. Holes were drilled for the 4 bolts, 2 plastic nubs, and brake wiring.(The plastic nubs were later removed and the holes were filled from the inside with plummers putty). Legacy05GT
Heres the match=up of the holes to the bolts. The brake light wiring was fed through a center hole. I put a little dab of plummers putty on each bolt to prevent leaking(if it rains, etc).

axis008
Let me be the first to say SWEET! I can't wait to get that spoiler for my currently-non-existant car. Must be scary drilling holes into your trunk. I wonder what someone would to do fix it. Bondo? -ben

Legacy05GT
did you put primer around the new holes so they won't rust?
nope... but i did use plumbers putty on each hole. Aslong as it keeps it watertight, there should be no rust.
u have some balls
yes...i indeed have balls
