Muleski
This may more clear than my earlier post. I have a 2005 LGT wagon, and I've got a full size spare on an OEM rim. Perfect. Our daughter has a 2002 Outback VDC. I bought her a steel rim, mounted it with a stock size 225/30/16 tire. It won't fit in the spare tire well, at least not inflated. That tire is 26.7" in diameter. Generation 4 Legacy wagons came with a 205/60/15 tire. Gen 4 Legacy GT's were fitted with a 205/50/16. Tire diameters for those are 24.7" and 24.9" My guess is that the well for the spare was probably designed for the Legacy sized tires, and not the up-sized Outback. I know that outside of North America, the Legacy's were delivered with full size spares. Can anybody with a Gen 4 Legacy confirm that they have a full size spare in the well, and tell me what size it is? I know all about the issues of a spare with different diameter than the normal road tires, etc. Just trying to figure out this one piece right now. Complicated by the fact that the car's 350 miles away from me! Thanks very much for the help.
