Thetoad
Well now,I have a spec b #18 ,bought at Town Motors,N.J. I was thinking of a trip to north Carolina, late this week so...I figured feed the turbo new blood,,I also asked to tighten my hand brake. The mechanic relayed to the Maintenance Specialist ,,,,that two of my belts were totally shot,my air filter was clogged,,,and finally my cabin,or AC filter was also clogged. I knew I had issues with the belts but I thought they were just loose, for when I gunned it,burning rubber was apparent. How could they have possibly known ,a filter in the console was clogged.Maybe because they looked at my ownership,,,,,and following maintenance without even looking..... My simple EARL change was $410.00,including $60.00,for a 4 minute job tightening a hand brake cable... I only have 21K on it,yet recently I HAD to get new tires, new clutch, both brakes ,multiple belts.I bought this car march 17,2007 NEW..... Is this normal, for a so called Reliable car....OH,by the way,,,I asked the mechanic about my Exhaust system which I thought might be next,,,he said its made of steel,,,,it will last a long time....I JUST WONDER.... Max Capacity
Yea, that's a problem with these cars, the exhaust will last forever. Kind of hard to follow everything else you said, Sorry I'm not from Jersey. Sometimes age is more important than mileage. 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD). CHECK your oil, these cars use it. Berzerklo
Seriously? Your car is 5 years old this week, and you are complaining about some pretty basic wear and tear items for any vehicle, regardless of make.

NWSPECB
Does anybody know what the problem is here? All I see is this is bad, this is bad, this is bad, I don't take care of my car, now it costs this much to fix it and that's expensive and I have a steel exhaust. Thetoad
I know about punctuation,,I still have scars from sister Bertrand @ St. Brendan's Just bear with me.. Gee Wiz,,,I thought my car, built in 2006 would be 7 years young,,not 5 .. The clutch went out at 20,080 miles.said it was worn out... I learned how to drive on a army 3/4 ton truck,a standard,,I don't ride the clutch, that's why I wondered, also at least 5K of miles were spent on the Penn.Turnpike, just adding to the intrigue. When I bought it,I immediately got into an accident on the George Washington Bridge due to the summer performance tires it was shod with.In a moderate rain, the car did not even attempt to stop, instead it just hydroplaned into a VW.I had Pirelli P Zreo Nero's on it,but they only lasted 20k. I am not even an aggressive driver.....

Many dealers will inspect the cabin air filter if they don't have a record of it being changed recently. You can decline to replace it, at which point they have to put the console back together and not charge you. The belts may have been loose originally, but driving around burning them up... You must be putting some pretty tough miles on your car. I'm at 45k on mine, the OEM RE92s will probably last to 60k (wish they'd wear faster honestly), and the brakes are similar. Honestly, that's probably about normal for a hard driven 2006 car in 2013. You had a few minor wear items replaced. Maintenance bills are cheaper than a new car, but if you really want to save money you need to learn to do your own maintenance. If you really want to avoid repair bills, lease a BMW or Mini where its all included.

Fitz
I can sum this up simple... I bought a awesome car thats what #18 of that year? sigh* I fail to drive it very far as I have few few miles on it. I drive in stop en go traffic which we all know is clutch engagement / it heats up as its in and out ect... Throw out barring wear out? proably I failed to look into stuff that wears after 7 years No oil change should be $410 yet at 21k u would have learned by now that $120 bucks for an oil change would have bought u 4 or more if u did it yea self. I smashed it into a VW and did some damage but didnt think it affect the car any I'm no complaining that after 7 years... my filters r clogged becasue the palution and other shit in the world shouldn't affect them after 7 years I'm also pissed about an E break being tighend and costing money yet if a shop works 5 mins they can chage a full hour of labor which is normaly $92 an hour. No pick but most of this is simple enough stuff. Most cars after 5 years I think require u to change the belts ect as they are a wear item. Dude sorry ya bought a Bad lemon car, but bitching about it is only going to make ya day worse, just continue and accept the fact this car has not met your exceptions for a 7 year old car. Maybe u should invest in a different ride and let this one go.... I would maybe say an Auto car as clutches seem to agrivate you... Also 20k out of a set of tires in the middle of a city...? stop en go traffic? they take there toll dude... 20 miles of City driving is like 200 miles in the country... no joke
