morrisok
I picked my car up from 15K svc last night (they also adjusted my parking brake) and while driving to work today on the freeway I noticed that there seemed to be some resistance in either tire roll or transmission (also noticed this on surface streets). So after about 7 miles on the freeway I pulled over and noticed a smell similar to burning/hot asbestos coming from the rear of the car. I am Stg2 and 5EAT and the first thing that came to mind was the transmission going out but I had noticed last night and this morning driving home that the brakes were much more sensitive after the parking brake was adjusted the previous day at the dealer. If the dealer adjusted the parking brakes too much (or poorly) would the brakes smell like asbestos if they were grabbing in the rear? I have never had a transmission go bad but I am pretty sure it wouldn't smell at all like asbestos.. Thanks, Morrisok

rao
+1 - it is easy to fix yourself if you want to. All you need is a deep socket 10mm. Rob IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR CAR YOU SHOULD NEVER DRIVE IT
dc78
Asbestos doesn't have a smell its a fiber and it almost impossible to burn. Hense why it's used as theremal system insulaiton.

ScoobNewb007
sounds like they did not fix your parking brake. I think you burnt your parking brake pads to kingdomcom. bring it back to the shop real fast, cause you will most likely need two new rear rotors and parking brake pads. morrisok
I took it back to the dealer this afternoon and sure enough the left rear brake they adjusted was "3 turns to tight". No more smell or resistance from the rear. Morrisok
