JohnSoPA
The reverse lights on our '05 GT Wagon (5MT) that is now driven by our son stopped working. I replaced the backup switch that's attached to the transmission -- it wasn't working. However, the lights still don't work. Fuse is fine. I'm getting 12V at the connector to the backup switch but am getting nothing at the bulb sockets. I pulled the rubber protective tubing away from both sets of wires connecting the roof to the trunk lid and the wires seem fine. Both bulbs are fine. It appears that the neutral switch attached to the transmission is also not working (I can only get continuity sometimes and briefly when depressing the button) but I don't think this affects the backup light circuit. Any ideas on what else I could troubleshoot? Thanks guys! Edited July 23, 2014 by JohnSoPA
JohnSoPA
Sorry to raise this from the dead, but I thought I would post what the issue was. We found a pinched/partially cut wire in the harness running through the rubber sheathing going from the body to the trunk. Once we repaired that, the lights were fine. We really had pull/stretch the rubber sheathing to find the problem.
