07 LGT Maintenance and Repair Items

Recommended Posts

I have a few maintenance/repair items to complete on my 07 LGT, 86k miles, just looking for a bit of advise. Oil, trans/diff fluids/fluids/air filters all good.

1. Dealer told me, and I can see it a bit, that my drivers side valve covers is leaking – stage 2. Both sides were done in August 2014, so that should be a warranty item to be corrected.

2. I figure I’ll replace my front driver side axel, boot is starting to leak. I’d rather buy the part(s) and have it installed. Suggestions on the parts/full assembly.

3. My front diff leaking, there are two bolts that have drips, though it may be the gasket and just some blow back. From the pics what is suggested? Just go ahead and reseal the diff?

4. Need to replace my front and rear sway bar bushings, they are blown out. Sway bars are stock. Suggestions on bushings, AVO/Whiteline?

5. Replacing a good amount of lines and the intake manifold gaskets. I did see the post about the silicon vac and rad lines, so I may go that route. I think I got most of what I need covered.

14472AA050 coolant tank (manifold) to turbo.

14472AA091 Turbo coolant return to block.

14472AA040 Coolant tank (manifold) to water pipe ( manifold)

45162AG01A Coolant tank (manifold) to radiator.

45162AG040 Radiator overflow pipe to radiator (at fill neck).

11861AA030 brake booster to manifold

99071AC240 Drivers side valve cover breather to PCV pipe.

99071AC010 Passenger side valve cover breather to PCV pipe.

99071AD100 Passenger side valve cover breather.

99071AC230 Drivers side valve cover breather

14465AA100 Bypass valve to inlet tube

16175AA331 ; 16175AA330 Intake Manifold Gaskets

99071AC310 Vac Hose

807403542 Vac Hose

99071AC320 Vac Hose

99071AD170 Vac Hose

99071AD180 Vac Hose

99071AD110 Vac Hose

99071AD120 Vac Hose

Anything else I should look at or do at this point?

Thanks!

Why on earth is your car at a dealership? Big No-No, dude.

See the groupbuy forum for msprank's Venair Hose Kit, which should satisfy your need for most of those hoses you've got listed, and likely at a fraction of the total price. Plus, cool silicone hoses. Net 5hp gain.

Keep your OEM axle unless it's damaged. Subaru wants $500+ for a new OEM axle, and with good reason; the remans just don't cut it. So, unless yours is sheared and broken, just score a CV reboot kit and do it yourself. Doesn't take too long to do. Same goes for the VC gaskets. We have multiple threads on that exact fix here. Read up.

Thanks. Yeah, I know, no dealers. Was in a pinch at the time, is what it is. The other thing is a finding a good mechanic, but I'm sure most are better than what the dealer is offering. I live in Santa Cruz, CA and one would think with all the Sub's around there would be a few shops that specialize in them. I am going to have Ricks Auto, which seems to have good review re: Subaru's (whatever that is worth), to look at the diff and do a leak/down compression.

I'll tackle the CV Boot myself; need to pick up a torque wrench and breaker bar which I want on hand any way. No noise from the axle and it just started to leak, so the axle is prob in good shape.

I was looking at the Venair kits previously as you mentioned as well. I'll probably go with those with the remainder being the OEM hoses/gaskets.

Going with AVO bushings as well.

  • 1 month later...

Finally getting around to this list as well.

Unfortunately the leak/comp test was done on a cold engine, that had been sitting overnight, since I ended up leaving the car. So going to take the results with a grain of salt, car is running good (few A/F issues), no major oil loss, no smoke, turbo was solid last I checked. At 85k miles now.

I do plan on taking a look at the PCV to see if I should replace or clean just for a little peace of mind.

Lastly my front diff is leaking, which is what I thought and has been confirmed. Very small drops on the rear bolts, fluid levels are perfect and have been for thousands of miles since I changed it, obviously very very slow leak. This would be a sizable job and don't have the funds for the repair at the moment, few months. Trans fluid is spot on as well.

Going to tackle the boot in the next 2 weeks.

Rest of the vac lines will have to wait.

^If your going to the PCV; replace it don't clean it.

This. It's a $30 just about anywhere you go --even the dealership-- it's just better to replace. Your current hoses are likely brittle anyway, plus, that little purple clamp on the hose that comes from the block . . Ugh. F*ck that clamp! I hate it! So much!

I did some digging... The impression I'm getting is that on 2005-2006 legacies, you can't replace the pcv valve by itself, you have to buy the whole assembly with hoses. It sounds like on 2007-2009 legacy gt's, they made it so that you can replace just the valve itself, so I can only find places that sell the valve by itself. It looks like no one sells the valve with hoses for 2007+, and you'll have to buy everything individually.

Thanks. That's the same info I could find. I'll just order up the valve. Looks like part 11810AA040

Alright...I think I got the parts. I like a hose costing more than the valve itself.

99071AD200 Vac Hose 4.07

99071AD210 Vac Hose 5.54

99071AD140 Vac Hose 9.89

11818AA000 Connector Assembly 7.19

11821AA580 Connector Hose 24.23

11810AA040 PCV valve 12.81

Total 63.73

You shouldn't need to replace the black plastic tubing that bolts to the back of the intake mani unless it's actually damaged. It's not techinically part of the PCV assembly.

Will that fit the 07 LGT? Reading through the PCV thread it looks as though there was a change to the 07+ and there is no full assembly to purchase. All those parts listed are for the PCV system only, not the black plastic piece running along the back of the IM.
