Automatic Shift Knob

Recommended Posts

Just got this Sti knob in the mail from Shanghai. I believe it's originally for the forester sti's that roll around in japan, but the thread is the same as our auto knobs. Awesome knob, looks great. Little subtle feature that gives the car a sportier feel on the inside. Just thought I'd share it! http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/02/13/dyqysedu.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/02/13/daqudemy.jpg

There we go. By the way, if anyone has the piece that surrounds the shift box (the silver plastic piece with the switch in it) I'd buy it off them. The previous owner put a switch there and it doesn't do anything.. I'm assuming it's a switch that activates 5000 hidden whp, but can't confirm.

It was right around 50 bucks shipped I believe. And I can't say that it definitely if is a genuine Sti part, but I'm 99% sure that it is.

And that's a real good looking boot.. I emailed the redline guys and they said that they no longer make it, so I guess I'm outta luck there.

Thanks khurlburt. Seems like a reasonable price. What site did you use to order?

What is not reasonable is the Redline answer. They make these items custom for all kinds of cars, in a multitude of colors/leather type and stitch types. They have been big on customer satisfaction and shipped fast from Poland in the past as well. I get emails from them like every other month about specials and the like for my LGT application. Should be able to go on their web site and order in the Legacy category; unless they do not see this as a big enough mover and are starting to fill the diaper on the customer service.

I bought the knob on good ol eBay :) I was wrong on the price, it was actually cheaper than that. Here's the link to it.

Redline did give me a long email that definitely had a "cut and paste" type vibe to it. Basically they said to take your current shift boot off and send it to them, then I immediately thought "WTF I told you it was an automatic legacy.." Eh oh well. I got a 10 dollar shift boot on eBay and it does the job until I can find a better suited one, hopefully from redline. Theirs looked awesome from the pictures on here that I saw.

Not very good pictures but you get the point. It does it's job for 10 bucks and I actually like it. Gonna see how this holds up then order a redline boot sometime in the future

Thanks for the pics! Looks really good for 10 bucks. I'm not sure how I feel about a shift boot on an auto but this is making me really consider ordering one.

Yeah I felt the same way, but I think it just cleans the whole look of it up a bit.

Looks good, too bad the chrome trim won't fit, would definitely finish it.

Yeah, I thought the same thing. You actually have to stretch the boot over the clips for the chrome ring, so there is no way to keep it there.

Maybe try making little slits in the boot for the clips? I think I'm going to try to throw a boot on too.
