Questions about hitting max boost

Let us assume stock set up here. We are supposed to hit a max boost of 13.5 psi.

 

My first question is: are we supposed to be able to hit max boost at every single gear (5MT in my case)?

I did a quick test last night where I hit max boost (actually 13.6) in either first or second (could not have my eyes on both the gauge and the road at the same time). But in 3rd, I just hit 12.9 I think, though I did not go all the way to redline (scared of it), and obviously began to go too fast on public road. It just seems that in 3rd, it's not as easy to hit max boost.

 

Second question: in 3rd gear around what rpm would you hit max boost at WOT?

 

Third question: if your engine knocks, would the ECU let you achieve max boost?

Update: went and did a couple of 3rd gear pulls using my Torque android app to monitor boost. Outside temp was 57F with about 85% humidity at sea level.

First time: reached 13.1 psi

Second time: reached 13.9 psi :eek:

subsequent pulls: max reached was 12.9 psi

 

Note that I don't have a turbo heatshield. Don't know if this can affect the results. Note also that I did NOT do any pull prior to the 3rd gear pulls.

 

Stock tune with a K&N panel filter and Perrin LCP. I think I'll ditch the panel filter soon.
