rebuild at 100k

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

I've an 05 GT 5spd manual, stock all around that is at 95k miles. I'm beginning to think about having a rebuild/refurb done to it so I can really beef it up(stg1 then stg2 probably a year later).

While my knowledge is limited, I've learned a bit here and there about the bits and pieces that go in to a rebuild. I've also heard that it could cost up to 10k.

Any information, as my searches so far through the forums have turned up nearly empty, would be appreciated.

I would have it checked out by a competant indy Subaru shop and get a compression test. From there make sure all your maintenance is up to date. I wouldn't say a rebuild just for the fact of rebuilding is worth it.

I've also noticed that high-pitched whistle sound when you step on the gas and the turbo is reving up and all... is that the turbo spooling up?

That sounds like a vacuum leak of some sort.
