NavyMan86
Hey all, I've an 05 GT 5spd manual, stock all around that is at 95k miles. I'm beginning to think about having a rebuild/refurb done to it so I can really beef it up(stg1 then stg2 probably a year later). While my knowledge is limited, I've learned a bit here and there about the bits and pieces that go in to a rebuild. I've also heard that it could cost up to 10k. Any information, as my searches so far through the forums have turned up nearly empty, would be appreciated.
Drift Motion
you can get the OEM long block for around $2500 IIRC but I'd probably just check the compression and etc, to see how healthy the engine is stage 2 is nothing really...

From there make sure all your maintenance is up to date. I wouldn't say a rebuild just for the fact of rebuilding is worth it. -Mike Paisan http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/91072632.jpg http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/145749898/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/133406601.jpg http://www.whiteline.com.au/images/logos/perf1.jpg 11+ Years Maintaining, Modifying and Educating TriState Subaru Enthusiasts. NavyMan86
I've also noticed that high-pitched whistle sound when you step on the gas and the turbo is reving up and all... is that the turbo spooling up?

That sounds like a vacuum leak of some sort. -Mike Paisan http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/91072632.jpg http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/145749898/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/133406601.jpg http://www.whiteline.com.au/images/logos/perf1.jpg 11+ Years Maintaining, Modifying and Educating TriState Subaru Enthusiasts.
