"One of the gas stations near my wife’s work ran out of regular (not the first time this month) so all the women my wife works with left work in mass to go find gas stations to top their cars off before "Houston runs out of gas". Just imagine the poor gas station attendant that had a fleet of 40+ crazed SUV driving women descend on him like a school of piranha."

sorry to say it but all you people that left in a panic, left for nothing, i live near 45 south and beltway 8 and we hardly got any rain, just little wind. another thing when have we ever evaquated houston for a hurricaine. i was here during alisha, my parents have been here since the 50s, and have nether evaquated. yes we get flooding, trees down, electricity out for a day or so. but come on people. and so you can sit in traffic for 20-24 to get to dallas. ya right. also this is not New Orlean we are not surrounded by a big ass lake(held back by a levy), river(Mississippi), the Gulf and below sea level. sorry just had to rant.

Only took me 12 hours to get to Dallas, and I don't feel I left "for nothing." Plus, I enjoyed my time in Dallas.

All these people who keep listing living through Alisha...that was a category 3. People who left were fearing the unpredicatability of a Cat 5 making a direct hit near the greater Houston area.
