tomsellout
So the two front tires of my car the inner treads keeps wearing away faster than anything else and I put new tires on back in January of 2011 and have so far i have ridden less than 30k miles on them, did my rotations as needed and this is my second set already due to the same problem. I have taken my car to the dealership numerous times, did a bunch of wheel alignments, changed the struts and replaced a bunch of bushings. The mechanic said nothing looks to be bent or out of place.... I really don’t know what else could be wrong with it and driving in the snow last night was a nightmare, not a happy camper:mad: Any suggestions or input on this issue would be great! Thanks. http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/r577/tomsellout/badtire.jpg
octain11
did you check your chamber? this is normal if you have negative chamber edit: what kind of tires are they?
laz
The same thing used to happen on my 4th gen. If you have gotten 30K out of those tires I think you have gotten your money's worth. Mine would wear out exactly the same as your pic. X ---

AZP Installs
Bill Kolb, i have a print out of the alignment results and shows everything is good. Printouts can easily be fudged. Knowing Bill Kolb it wouldn't surprise me at all. (I heard they buy wrecked cars at the port and re-sell them as new with a "special" package they install since NYS doesn't require some absurdly large $ value of damage to disclosed to the buyer). I would have the alignment done at a professional shop and see if that helps. -Mike Paisan http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/91072632.jpg http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/145749898/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/133406601.jpg http://www.whiteline.com.au/images/logos/perf1.jpg 11+ Years Maintaining, Modifying and Educating TriState Subaru Enthusiasts. robinlsb
Bill Kolb, i have a print out of the alignment results and shows everything is good. UMMMM. when I first went to coilovers, I went to my dealer and had an alignment done. They were a dealer, right? Things were wrong, I could tell by the tracking, and I had expensive DS3's on. I went to my local shop, and they sent it to the "best place in town" They spent two hours on it, I watched. I even got a printout. According to their specs, it was perfect. It was worse So I took it to a race shop/ regular repair place (plug for Fast Track in Peabody Ma). The specs I got on it, before and after said that not one, NOT ONE of any corner was close to spec. The moral of this story is that alignment is only as good as the machines that are used and the money spent to ensure the machines are accurate. All of the mechanics were top notch, they were betrayed by bad machines that were not maintained by their management. "Belief does not make truth. Evidence makes truth. And belief does not make evidence."

Yup, we just had to send ours out for recal so we've been using Long Acre manual setup for a few weeks. The electronic machines are nice, and quick, but have to spot check em with manual methods every so often. -Mike Paisan http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/91072632.jpg http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/145749898/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/133406601.jpg http://www.whiteline.com.au/images/logos/perf1.jpg 11+ Years Maintaining, Modifying and Educating TriState Subaru Enthusiasts. GTTuner
Alignment sometimes can be real pain. If you are a really big person (say, 300 pounds) that could affect the alignment due to the fact there is no driver in the car. Technically you should have 175 pounds in the driver seat. If the slip plates on the alignment rack are not functioning properly you'll never get a good alignment. You need to have a shop that has good equipment and a good alignment tech. Sometimes you may need to alter the specs to get a car to go straight or not to wear tires, every car is different. If you have a coil over set up it should be corner balanced before you align it. You should post up the print out so I can see it.

AZP Installs
Caster is not adjustable on the subies, so that may be why it is greyed out. I also have never seen results that close to stock... -Mike Paisan http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/91072632.jpg http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/145749898/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/133406601.jpg http://www.whiteline.com.au/images/logos/perf1.jpg 11+ Years Maintaining, Modifying and Educating TriState Subaru Enthusiasts.
