Fog light kit: weekend install project

I've ordered the fog light accessory for 2.5i from Subaru Online Parts. It's due to arrive this Friday. I will post the progress of installation. It seems pretty straight forward from the install manual.

Please do share the process with pics and/or a video if possible. I really wanna add fogs to my premium but nervous about messing it up :-\

You should of get the BMW X5 LED fog, I plan to get rid of my stock one soon.

In order to do the morimoto xb led fog lights on the premium, I would still need the stock subaru fog light housing right? My fog light covers won't work :-(

I guess you'll just need the cover part of the oem foglight kit. or maybe you can possibly dremel the opening for the XB LED Fog.

It's prob. almost the same as the 5th Gen. I did a DIY for the 5th gen.

But I guess I will have to wait since it's a lease and I don't wanna do irreversible mods yet cause I haven't decided if I will be keeping it yet after the lease ends.

I'm sure dremmeling will leave a perfect hole cut out.....

I thought the fogs were H11

H11 are for the adaptive fog light kit. I've ordered the regular one.

Fog light kit installation complete. It's not complicated. Took about 2 hours.

Correction: H11 are for the reg fog light kit.

Does the adaptive fog light work pretty well?

It's not very noticeable while driving but st a stand still you can turn the wheel back and forth and the lights move about 1 foot

Ok, just an update for the couple of people who asked for pictures and instructions:

1) instructions for the fog kit can be found on Subaru's website: http://techinfo.subaru.com/search/index.html

2) It's pretty simple install. The only parts that I thought was tricky was steps 3 & 8.

3) Solutions:

-Fog lamp cover removal: reach your hands in as described in step #2 and push the fog lamp cover outward instead of using nylon tool in step #3

-Panel cover removal: Use some force on the bottom on the cover. You may make a mark in that area but can't see it in your day-to-day driving activities.

 

3) I'm waiting for the LED H11 fog bulbs to arrive then to take some pictures.

The fog kit I've installed is designed for base and Premium trims. However, it would be interesting to see if you can order the fog light for Limited trim from a dealer and see if the adaptive feature works on base and Premium trims. You never know.

Adaptive fog is linked to eyesight so uf you don't have eyesight, it wouldn't do anything

Have you figured out how to be able to turn on the fogs without the headlights yet?

 

I am waiting for someone to figure out this simple mod.

Foglight relay is located in the main fuse box under the hood, most likely you'll have to jumb the wire there.
