q2slinger
Are cusco lower braces legal for street touring or street prepared? Here is rule regarding strut bars: 14.3.G. Strut bars are permitted with all types of suspension. Strut bars may be mounted only transversely across the car from upper right to upper left suspension mounting point and from lower right to lower left suspension mounting point. No other configuration is permitted. Additional holes may be drilled for mounting bolts. Only bolt-on attachment is permitted. Interior trim panels may be modified to allow installation of strut bars. Holes or slots may be no larger than necessary and may serve no other purpose. This does not permit any modifications to the frame or unibody beyond the allowed mounting holes.

whitetiger
the rule you have posted refers only to strut tower bracing. the lower arm bars are considered chassis stiffening and are totally legal.
q2slinger
I'm not seeing any allowences for chassis bracing below street mod/prepared:eek:
Metal2You
I was under the impression they would not be allowed in the street prepared class. According to this table chassis, frame and subframe reinforcements are not allowed in SP. http://www.sff.net/people/dburkhead/prepcompare.htm
AKLGT
You can't have them in Street Tire classes. Steet Mod, just about anything goes but PAX sucks donkey balls. As for ESP, I don't know. I'm pretty sure most of the guys here running control arms or braces run in SM. Wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle yeah!!!
whitetiger
Just looking over the rules here.. http://www.scca.com/documents/Solo%20Rules/2008_Solo_Rules_2.pdf Its actually not so clear. Are arm bars considered subframe connectors, or are they chassis stiffening?
whitetiger
I think its ok since the arm bars use factory mounting points, and can be considered, at least for the front one, a lower strut bar. For the rear, im not so sure.
q2slinger
Thanks guys. Thinking about doing a regional event next month and wanna make sure I'm legal.
nKoan
I always thought the answer was no to that question. The pictures in question don't seem to be mounted to more than just the lower suspension mounting points.
