suboogru
I never spraypainted wheels before, so i sprayed my girls protege wheels just to see how the process actually was and to have a guage on color choice for my car. her p5 color is practically the same as rbp. i went with duplicolor graphite and it looks good to me. so my question is when i go to clean the car how do u clean and dress the painted wheels. i usually just soap and wash with a rag. then use detail spray when done. will the same process work without ant ill-effects? (sanded, 3 coats paint, 2 coats clear, let dry)
captainobvious
i use the car wash soap after 3 weeks of letting them cure. After that u can start to use the brake dust remover. So far mine have held up good after 2 months of being rattle canned.
suboogru
OK thanks. Will wait a few weeks to wash her car, then see how it does before I do mine.
Karumba
Depends on how you prepped the wheels basically... though I'll say I used more coats of clear (roughly 4) and they still weren't as glossy as I would've preferred (but not about to redo the wheels completely with another color). But they've held up fine for the two seasons of use. Never touched them, never hit them with brake cleaner either, but then again, normally doesn't go too long between washes (even if it just a rinse off wash at the self-serve) Pictures of my rides; 2001 Honda Civic LX 4dr old whip[/url] Current Wagon
