I Donated broknindarkagain Posted February 11, 2013 I Donated Share Posted February 11, 2013 Stock 96 Outback size is 205/70/15. Think I can get away with 205/75/15s? what about 215/75/15? -broknindarkagain My Current Project - Click Here COME AND TAKE IT "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." whitetiger
how about 215/70/15 ? since the middle number is a percentage, 215/70/15 will be taller and wider but not as much as 215/75/
I Donated broknindarkagain Posted February 11, 2013 Author I Donated Share Posted February 11, 2013 I'm looking for a more aggressive off road tire. 215/75/15 is available in the tire i want. I would prefer bigger too as long as it fits. -broknindarkagain My Current Project - Click Here COME AND TAKE IT "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." whitetiger
do you know how much room you have under your spring perches? that will determine if the taller tire will fit.
stevenva
I'm curious as to the make and model of the tire you have in mind. ??? General Grabber A/T 2 ??? RIP 96 Legacy 2.2 4EAT lost reverse @ 374,000 miles
I Donated broknindarkagain Posted February 11, 2013 Author I Donated Share Posted February 11, 2013 I was looking at Generals for the price...but decided to go big or go home lol I found confirmation of someone running 215/75/15 on stock suspension so I ordered a set of these bad boys (BFG AT). I'll have them first thing in the morning. spooln30
Remember a wider width will also make the tire a little taller as well.
stevenva
I was hoping you would not be considering those BFG All Terrains. Too many people select it as their "go to" tire due to it's popularity and aggressive looks. If you were mounting them on a F-350 or any other 3/4 to 1 ton vehicle than it would be an OK choice. I say that because that model tire is only made in LT load ratings, a little too stiff for what you have in mind. I sell tires and try to persuade people out of getting that model for small pickups, Jeep Wranglers ect. Due to it's sidewall stiffness, the footprint will be smaller than a P rated tire of the same size, unless you air them down to a low pressure, then you have major handling issues. The General I mentioned is pretty much identical to the BFG tread design and even has water siping that the BFG does not have. I think you would be happier with them. Oh,,, I just read back and saw that you just placed the order. Ummmmm,,,, On the plus side those BFGs last for ******* ever RIP 96 Legacy 2.2 4EAT lost reverse @ 374,000 miles

Sludgeroo
My old SUS had 215/75/r15 and didn't rub or nothing lock to lock. Looked like Paris-Dakar rally raid machine
I Donated broknindarkagain Posted February 12, 2013 Author I Donated Share Posted February 12, 2013 Here are a few pictures. I've pushed the suspension as far as I can in the city to see if it rubs and haven't had any rubbing yet. I romped around in a few dirt fields, over some curbs, etc. No issues so far. I'm able to go lock to lock either way. The rear (you can see in one of the pics) is a pretty close call. I don't think I could have gone any bigger. -broknindarkagain My Current Project - Click Here COME AND TAKE IT "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."
