downero
I used to have 235x40x18" on an 18" rim When the rim got whacked, I switched to 17" and used 215x45x17" I'm wondering, without making any adjustments, Can I use 215/225 x 50 x 17"? The key is 50series, instead of 45series. There are many potholes here, that's why I would like a thicker tire. Thanks.

downero
215/50/17 Thanks. If I may repeat, I will not be making any adjustments with the wheel height. So if I can use 215, then I'll use the 225 for wider grip. This sounds stupid but in short: 235x40x18 = 225x50x17, with no adjustments made to the wheel Thanks. I was worried that the 50series might not fit/ bulge.
Xenonk
depends on your rim too.. using a 7" with a 225/50/17 is really too tall and too sloppy for the wheel to work well... a 235/40/18 sizing is as big as you want to go for stock struts.. you dont want to rub. However I do have the OEM Spec.B Bilstein suspension set up for that circumference. They are squishier than OEM feel but pumped up a few pounds they feel pretty decent.
