HID questions

So I am contemplating putting HIDs in my 2010 legacy. I have a couple of options and was wondering what everyone's opinion is.

1. Buy a Volt or extreme HID kit off the group buy section, drop it in, and call it quits. http://www.xenonexpert.com/xtreme-hid-philips-conversion-kit/

2. Buy a TRS bulb and ballast set, as well as update the lenses with TRS black series http://www.theretrofitsource.com/product_info.php?products_id=3893 http://www.theretrofitsource.com/product_info.php?products_id=25696

3. Spend more coin, buy the TRS retro-quick kit with HID projectors, with H7 hid bulbs http://www.theretrofitsource.com/product_info.php?products_id=254

4. similar to 3 but instead get the TRS bi-xenon d2s stage 3 retrofit kit, which adapts H7 to d2s. http://www.theretrofitsource.com/product_info.php?products_id=237

5. get the TRS bi-xenon H1 stage 3 kit. Same as option 4 but has H1 bulbs. http://www.theretrofitsource.com/product_info.php?products_id=227

Thanks for the input!

I have HIDs in my 08 but I only did the low beams and left the hi-beams untouched. It was very easy to do, using a kit from DDM Tuning. I rarely use Hi-beams, and they are my DRLs, so it doesn't really bug me.

I didn't get new projectors and my HIDs are technically out of spec, but I have not been pulled over or have had people complain about my lights being too bright or bothersome. I've had the HIDs for about 3 years.

Does the 2010 use high beams as DRLs? I assume the kits deal with that elegantly.

Yeah the 5th gen uses highs as the drl. Thanks for the info. I'm leaning towards doing a full retrofit just to have a clean job without scattering light all over the road and having a ricey looking poorly installed kit.

LOL. My Halogen projectors are actually pretty good at diffusing the light. They don't look ricey at all. Not sure how good the 2010 projectors are.

Here's a writeup on how to install a Morimoto bi-xenon kit on a 2009. Looks pretty easy and I might look into doing something like this at some point:

I paid $27 for my DDM Kit, and I had a ballast replaced under warranty a few months ago. I had to pay an extra $10 to get an upgraded ballast, but for $37 I have had 3 years of use out of the kit (and about 40-45k miles). It has been great value to me.

I just did something like this on my 96 Legacy. Get the Bi-Xenons so you will have 2 pairs of highbeams at the same time. The results will leave you speachless. I love pulling beside another car at night. My FX-R 3.0s are brighter than most. But hitting the highbeams and lighting up 1/4 mile is a trip.

I could be happier. The electrical filtration on the Morimoto ballasts sucks. I get a slight intermittent flicker on mine when the engine is running. They're perfect when the engine is off. I've tried capacitors in parallel to stabilize the voltage some. It only helped a little. Next I will install inductors in series to stabilize the current. Those 2 devices combined would equate to a PI filter.

I called TRS for advise and they were no help.

Could be due to me running a 180 amp alternator. Some AC ripple always gets by.
