Connor's '05 LGT Wagon

Recommended Posts

I'll keep the intro brief, here is my car.

http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/spartans-rbp-wagon-135939.html

Spartan was the 2nd owner, and I am now the 5th. Currently it has 115k on the clock, but definitely doesn't show it. All I've been doing with it right now has been getting the paint to as close to perfect as I can reasonably manage. In the coming weeks I'll need to take care of the condensation problem with the passenger side headlight and get around to fixing the leaky sandwich plate for the oil pressure gauge.

EDIT: 179k miles as of 10/28/2020

=======================================

Today I played with wheels.

Oh the benefits of a wagon. Fits eight wheels, a full size jack, and a toolbox with room to spare!

http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8229/8427839657_410c467db0_b.jpg

Fitted up some wheels to decide which ones I'd like to keep and which to sell. To begin with we have the current winter wheel, some 17" ASA wheel that I actually quite like.

Next some 17" gold RPF1s off my WRX. I really liked these too.

http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8183/8427843235_caaa6c2db4_b.jpg

Then the 18" gunmetal Buddyclub P1s that came with the Legacy. I liked these the most.

It was a tough call, but I think I'm gonna sell the Enkei's. I already have 5 people lined up to buy them.

Nice wagon:) I see some bilstein+pinks on it, do you use any spacers? it's sitting kind of high for that setup imo, I have to go out and actually look at mine, I think mine's lower on same setup.

RBP is a great color for BPs.

Congrtas! Threat her nice ;)

What size were the enkeis? 17x7 or 8? and what tire was on it?

i've got an extra set of 17x8s in my garage that i haven't put race rubber on recently, and am thinking about re-purposing them for my legacy

Tires are 225-50

  • 3 months later...

Madison Sports Car Club had a dyno night at Kelly Moss Motorsports tonight. Strapped the LGT down and managed to do 225/275. I was expecting a higher horsepower number and lower torque, so I guess I'll be okay with the difference. :)

Nice car!

I'd have the say the Buddy Club looks the best. The gold on the Enkei's is too gold. If it were darker it would look better.

I'm also a fellow WI RBP wagon owner!

Thanks Holla!

I see you're in the Milwaukee area. Are you in Madison much? I've heard that there is another RBP LGT wagon around town, which is a shame cause that means I'll have to fight him.

I make it to Madison a few times a year but I doubt it's me you'd be seeing.

I've seen two other RBP LGT wagons around Milwaukee. One was a stock 5EAT that was parked down the street from my house and the other was identical to yours and it was for sale at Hiller Ford in Waukesha a few years ago.

Yeah, my girlfriend was saying that she was seeing my car downtown Madison a bunch when I knew I was nowhere the area, I thought she was seeing a similar car or something. Turns out there is actually is another lowered RBP LGT wagon on gunmetal wheels.

I must end him.

What what, RBP 5mt wagons, assemble!

I would be mad to see another RBP wagon in my town too.. There's a guy I played hockey with who is local and said he's getting an obp LGT 5mt wagon and I'm not happy about it, kind of trying to talk him out of it.

I miss that car. My buddy bought it from Spartan i think. His name is Jason. Still bummed he sold it

Yup. Jason had to trade it in for a truck I think, from there my friend Terry bought it and brought it back to Madison and then I bought it from him.

Okay so after dynoing the wagon the mod bug has bitten. Tentatively I am thinking ERZ catted DP, Q300 exhaust, GFB recirc valve, and a bigger intercooler. I thought I read that ERZ makes a FMIC kit? Maybe that was CNT? (same thing?)

At that level will I need to upgrade any of the fuel system? Injectors and/or pump?

Haha, the mod bug bites hard. I am thinking of getting another legacy wagon. Probably NA this time as I don't know if I could justify the mileage hit + the price of premium after driving a TDI for throat two years. Hope you continue to enjoy the car!

  • 5 weeks later...

Strapped the wagon down to Kelly Moss's dyno a little while back and managed to squeeze out ~225hp/275ft lbs at 17psi. I was expecting more horsepower and less torque, but I'm cool with the difference.

I've been trying to get completely caught up on maintenance right now, so I had a friend of mine do the 105k mile checklist (which I was 17k miles over). He replaced the timing belt, water pump, thermostat, and accessory belts. Was a helluva lot cheaper than taking it to the dealer to do!

http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3766/9064876816_bc524af4a1_c.jpg

The crappy foam filter that came with the car had definitely seen better days, so I replaced that with a K&N 3" filter.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7373/9064862296_73866e23bb_z.jpg

The roof rails were pretty faded and were different shades of gray/black, so I masked them off and plasti-dipped them along with my chipped up grill.

http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5525/9062652665_325d576475_c.jpg

I picked up a new turboback exhaust from a member of the Legacy forum, saved about $400 off buying it retail. CNT racing 3" catted downpipe and a 3" Invidia Q300 catback.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7310/9062625947_71a22d3654_c.jpg

Putting the exhaust on was the easiest car project I've ever done, none of the bolts fought with me or broke, everything was real smooth and easy. Taking the hood off made it a little easier to get the downpipe off.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7451/9062597279_fdd0e86105_c.jpg

Fitment was spot on and nothing needed adjusting.

http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3697/9062587591_0faaa737bc_c.jpg

Yesterday I seafoamed the car before doing an oil change and bled the brakes.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7335/9070365943_507c4d5797_c.jpg

I couldn't find my usual bleeder line I improvised with heat shrink tubing and a small rubber hose.

http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3723/9070357843_9b3787ed50_c.jpg

My new tires arrived from Discount Tire as well (225-40-18 Continental Extreme Contact DW) so I went into the Nissan dealer to shoot the shit with some of my SR20 buddies and get them mounted.

http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2874/9070346009_19b1791217_c.jpg

Within the next month I plan on getting a set of gold STi Brembos to put on, might just do the fronts for now as they bolt right up. The rears need an adapter bracket, larger parking brake shoe, and special rotors (which is actually more expensive than doing the fronts).

Continuing with my current fixation on my car, today I cleaned it up and took the first nice pictures of it. Been meaning to for a while.
