No I am not a photographer, I've just been working at it for a while. Ive taken all of those myself. Thank you!

 

 

 

I just got the factory McIntosh head unit/amp that was in some of the H6-3.0 outbacks. The head unit usually runs $300ish and the amp $120ish on ebay. I got the whole combo for $200. Took some soldering, which it turns out im not very good at, but the install was successful!

Cool man I see yours is the winestone pearl too! Very unique color. Glad to help. The CEL has mostly been the catalytic converter, but after I got that fixed it's been the knock sensor. Its been going on and off for the past couple months. The engine has been pinging for some time (pre-ignition) and it finally set off the knock sensor code I guess. My landlord told me an old trick to spray water into the intake so that it will ignite as steam, and act to blow out some of the carbon build up on top of the piston. I was skeptical but it seems to have helped quite a bit. Every so often I'll rev it up and spray it. Is your CEL on?

Oh is it whine stone pearl? That kinda sounds..... fancy and.... special :p I assume the CEL was on much longer before my mom and I came in America and started living with my step dad, cuz the light was on when we came 2 years ago. i thought it was from the badly slipping clutch :D I inherited the car after a camry and a mazda6 joined our parking and started fixing it up. fixed the clutch at 145000 changed the tires. The CEL turned to be for a O2 sensor and Knock-knock lol and a lil after I changed the O2 sensor. They told me that the code for the knock sensor might come out because of the o2 but after changing the o2 the knock sensor had started coming on and off, just like yours and I was really confused whether it is working or not lol. changed it- no light so far. It was very easy to change it though and I found one at the advance auto parts for like 85 bucks

is it easy to change? I heard you have to drain the cooling system... I havent looked into it much. Im very jealous of your 3-pedals and 5 gears! Once my trans goes itll become a project. How many miles u at now?

Generally both sensors are easy to change, but because the O2 sensor was the stock one it was a real PITA. Meaning, the thread of the O2 as if became one piece with the thread on the catalytic converter, so the car had to be lifted up in a service. The guys struggled to unscrew it for hours. Finally, they somehow managed to unscrew it with a lot of heating and sweating. The knock sensor only had to be unscrewed, unplugged from the wiring and the opposite for the new sensor. And no, you don't have to drain the cooling system. Lol It's like to say, "I need to keep the trunk open while I am messing with changing the dome light bulb." Two absolute irrelevant things :). I did not even have to have the battery unplugged to mess with any of the sensors. After changing both sensors, I think I felt the car a liiiiiiittle more responsive.

Miles on the car are a little over 145000, but if you want to know exactly I can see tomorrow.

Additional info:

I do not really like the 5 speed to be honest. I still cant make the car drive smoothly as the manuals I had driven back in Bulgaria. I don't know why, but it just engages weirdly. Plus, the lack of 6th gear is very annoying especially on the highway. I know its a sporty car, but at least for economy they could have slammed a 6th one ;( .

My next project involves:

-removing the yellow corners (the picture of my LGT on my avatar is PSed)

-replacing the tint with black one

-blacking out taillights but leaving the rear drive clear

-replacing the middle chrome line on the grill with home depot mesh

-blacking out the outer chrome line of the grille. I wonder if I should leave the badge or not.

-eventually I am thinking to do a retrofit on the headlights

-replacing all interior bulbs with more modern colors

Btw, which town of NH are you in? just wondering. I love the places where you took pictures of the car. specially the mountains

AGH! that kills me I want a manual so bad. I'll trade transmissions! Lol. Even my trans screams on the highway too, it tachs about 3k rpm @70mph. It's the best automatic trans I've driven, but I just want to shift myself. I live in Raymond but those shots were taken all over the place. Some in pennsylvania, some in northern nh. My sister lives in Middletown ct, I was just there visiting her last weekend.

 

Good mod list. I kinda like the look of the orange turns with the maroon, I might just leave em orange save some money. I really want the jdm split 5 spoke 17" wheels but they're so damn expensive. I also want a different front bumper, either the jdm or a painted to match outback FB. That's all really expensive tho lol. I also want it lower maybe like an inch, nothing too drastic. I love the ride of the stock struts I wouldn't change that at all. I may just get shorter springs and new stock struts. At 195k the suspension is getting a little tired. I need to upgrade my speakers eventually too.

And I want YOUR rims. I even put your car with those rims on my phone's background lol. Removing the yellow corners is free actually. Just bake ur headlights in the oven, crack them open, remove the reflectors and then opposite order to put the headlights together. If ur coming soon to Middletown if u want we can meet our subies :p And I can give u try my manual if u want. lol I really want to have even a larger subie meet but idk where any meets are happening

I got my legacy for $400, unfortunately came with the auto. And yea, the gearing is really retarded. I absolutely hate the thing, it's always shifting when I want power most. But I'm gonna fix that..... Swapping in a turbo forester 5speed. 4.44 diffs and LSD :D:D:D:D

987687 I inherited mine so Im not complaining at all. Thats the same engine as the baja turbo! and thats the engine I really want. That way I could get the hood with the functional scoop, which is made of aluminum, take some weight off the front end..

 

P.S. maine isnt too far away..

 

Izzy_ Yeah we can let them run around a park or something lol. I hadnt planned on going back soon but Id be willing to go sooner.. I work all week Im basically free only on the weekends. let me know if anything pops up! you'll get to see how solid a subaru with 195k still drives

I'm not getting the turbo engine.. just the transmission. The strongest 5speed in USDM market though!

Does that mean that u have turbo and the radiator on the top of the engine, like the sti? If so, well, how come?

and whenever ur free and coming over just pm me. I will anyway keep looking for meetings. Honestly, sometimes when I see an STi I feel like stopping and making a contact/convo with that guy but I don't wanna be taken for a weirdo lol
