Polished my mufflers today

Recommended Posts

I was reinstalling my old Cusco sway bar and decided to polish my exhaust up. No matter how much I cleaned it by hand, it still didn't have the shine from when I first bought them.

I'm impressed with the results.

Materials used:

Damp cloth for cleaning surface dust

Acetone to clean soot

Black Magic metal polish

Porter Cable 7424 w/ the pad that it came with

Here they are right when I took them off.

Polished muffler installed, I wish I had an attachment to get into the tip (You can see my Cusco sway too):

Both done and installed:

They will more than likely dirty after going to work tomorrow, but they still look damn good polished up!

very nice!!

I'll usually just jack up the rear end of my wagon, clean my SP2s off with some simple green then follow up with some stainless steel cleaner/polish.

I've been meaning to swap out to some fresh gaskets...may as well pull and do the same as you!

Great Job!!

I used to clean them with a damp cloth and then put some metal polish on them by hand and while the results were good, it just doesn't compare as to using a PC. It's like a mirror now and it only took 10-15 min per muffler and I was generally taking my time.
