New legacy owner looking for a mild drop that keeps car ride "close" to stock..

Quick story, I have a 04 STI slammed on cusco coilovers that's a track/weekend car. I just got a Legacy 2.5i and I LOVE it!! I could not ask for a better DD. But I can't stand how high it sits off the ground! I take the car to tahoe from the sf bay every week! I want a nice minimal droop, I would like about a 1 1/2 droop so I sit better but still can make it through the snow.

1. Does the strut and spring packages for the Legacy GT work with my car?

2. STI pinks for the legacy? do I run these with the factory struts?

Sorry for being such a "new" guy but some help would be great!

thanks

Matt

Go with Epic springs from infamous performance and tuning. 1" drop or so. No real need to shell out the money for STI pinks, especially since those will only give about a 0.5" drop and you are looking for more than that.

Any lowering spring is likely going to increase wear on your stock struts.

Not currently in stock :(

Matt,

IMO your best bet is to get what alot of Legacy and GT guys do is Koni shocks and whatever springs you want (something mild). If you want a mild drop and something cheaper you can get an Eibach Pro-kit or a set of used Cobb springs or even Epic springs. The stock 2.5i shocks if you lower the car will go pretty fast and a set of STI Pink springs are pretty costly about ($500).

just my .02 cents

I was 0.

And I'm still a zero.

Lots of good into!! Thanks for the help. I still don't snow what I want to do lol. And what's this saggy but spacers

Most of the lowering rear springs are lower than the fronts and these spacers are hard plastic pieces that sit on top of the rear struts to even out the ride look

I would suggest the Epic springs if you can find them. The Eibach's I believe are long out of production.

We sell the spacers, just shoot us an e-mail or call.

The Epics should work ok with stock struts, although konis will be much better!

I found the STi Pinks to be a lower drop than the Epics when I ran them on my LGT.

The rated 15 mm (0.6" drop) for STi pinks is for Bilsteins or similar front struts, e.g., Tokicos, that also use the Bilstein/Spec B top hat. When used with KYB-style top hats, such as with stock struts or Koni inserts, the actual drop will be an inch or more, roughly the equivalent difference between running Spec B top hats and KYB-style top hats.

I ran the Group N aka Spec B top hats in the front. The drop on the STi Pinks is one of the more aggressive drops other than the slammed ones like tannabe or tein ones.

That's odd. I'm running STi pinks w/ Bilstein HDs w/ Spec B tophats in front and the drop is approximately 3/4" when compared to the stock KYB struts and springs. I have a two-finger gap between tire and fender in front.

Odd, could be an anomaly of a group of springs. Who knows.
