Tuning question

Im about to get my car tuned and had a question or 2. First, the tuning shop is telling me that because my vehicle had an Accessport on it that I am forced to purchase another accessport AND the tune. Is this true or can I just get it tuned and forego the AP? Kind of feeling like he is trying to make a bit more money on me.

If the AP was unmarried, you can use a $15 vag-com cable with opensource.

It had the accessport on it before I purchased the car. The previous owner left the uppipe, downpipe, and exhaust upgrades on the car but parted out the AP. Now Im curious if I have to tune and add an AP ($1100 est..) or if I can just tune it ($450) or just add an AP ($550ish) and use the included stage 2 map. Money is tight, so Id LOVE to use the 2nd or 3rd options if possible.

He took the AP but left the tune on the car? You need another AP.

I was assuming he sent it back to stock and thats why it was running so rich. If the tune was still on it, wouldnt it be running well? He left all of the upgraded parts on the car, just removed the AP.

You'd have to connect a laptop to it to figure it out. How do you know it's running rich? How much boost is it hitting?

Sounds rough. I should be receiveing my used AP tomorrow, and install this weekend. Hopefully it was unmarried and ready for a stg2 flash! Hope you find a solution!
