gxp05 Posted March 12, 2013 Share Posted March 12, 2013 i got a 99 brighton with a 2.2 5 speed i wanna do a engine swap. id just like to know what engine i could bolt up to the trany im looking on getting a wrx engine or something but im not sure what will bolt up to the trany hope someone can help me out thanks! johnegg Posted March 13, 2013 Share Posted March 13, 2013 your 99 brighton has a ej22 phase 2 engine. this makes it reasonably compatible with a 00 - 04 ej25 swap. as i understand, it is the turbo that makes the wrx swap difficult. wiring harness, ECU, front cross member, exhaust, etc. but you could drop in a 00 ej25 with very little effort. (just use the 99 cam and crank sprockets as well as the intake ans exhaust manifolds. not sure about the EGR.) of course this would not give you the POWER you are hungry for. just a thought.
