mikesae
Just bought a Garmin 255W. I find when the volume is at 80% plus, the speaker clips and/or the plastic casing "buzzes" along with the voice. Is this par for the course?
lucas569
never had that happen to any of my garmins, send it back for another.

mikesae
Thanks, I'll take it back and buy one that doesn't distort. Will report back...
G35C_WRX_MX5_MR2
How do you like that one, bluetooth is ok ? I was thinking of upgrading to one of these when they come on sale after Xmas. I really like it. The bluetooth works great with my Motorola W755 even though its not on the Garmin compatiblility list. The traffic function also works great. So far it's been extremenly accurate with it's estimated delay time for traffic backups. I've seen this model as low as $259.00 on-line, check newegg.com or thenerds.net. I got mine from Amazon for less than $300 shipped.
mikesae
So, I exchanged the 255W for a Tomtom 930. I found the Garmin 2x5 series would go plenty loud, but distorts. The 7x5 series doesn't distort, but isn't loud enough. The Tomtoms had both volume and clarity plus more geegaws and settings. Apparently, the route planning on the Garmins is better for North America and Tomtom for Europe, but in the grand scheme of things it should be fine.
