RacerX100
This is the spoiler I have for my Legacy that is painted and ready to install: http://www.hkc-speed.com/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=136&ccSID=a31466d47f9267b73764013bb2acf460 The only problem is the instructions that came with it are in Japanese. Is there a basic rear lip spoiler walk-through I can refer too. Or, if anyone can help me out with basic instructions and pointers I would appreciate it. Also, what kind of bit is best for drilling the holes in the trunk, and any other materials/prep work I should be careful not to overlook?

Also, what kind of bit is best for drilling the holes in the trunk, and any other materials/prep work I should be careful not to overlook? I installed that spoiler almost 2 years ago. I decided that the adhesive tape would be enough and didn't bother drilling mounting holes. Since this lip is rather conservative and doesn't extend too far up or out, little leverage can be applied to it even when using it to close the trunk. Mine's still solidly attached with just the tape. If yours has already been mounted and removed then take off the old tape and apply a similar thin, good quality double sided automotive adhesive tape. Make sure the trunk lid is clean and warm to ensure good adhesion. Here's my post from when I did mine... http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?p=141894#post141894
fweasel
I also have that spoiler (Hi Tim!) and I also did not drill any holes. Mine has been on for a year with no issues. One problem I did have initially was the tape along the front eadge was not thick enough and would not make contact with the trunk lid. It stuck on the edges and the entire bottom edge so I haven't gotten around to removing it and replacing the adhesive tape. Someday. ignore him, he'll go away. RacerX100
OK - that seems like the better option anyway. Thanks for the help.
RacerX100
The spoiler was shipped to me without the old dbl-sided adhesive tape removed. Can anyone tell me the easiest way to get this off and the surface clean so I can re-apply the new tape? A straight razor and something like Goof Off that won't strip paint? I plan on putting it on tomorrow.

RacerX100
Put the spoiler on today and it looks great. Heating the existing tape up and scraping was a pain. Goo Gone didn't help much either (the tape was really on there good). Finally, I used a Dremel tool with a wire brush attached and from there it was an easy job. fweasel
looks good. Did you have any touble with the front edge not sticking to the trunk lid... near the middle? I believe the double sided tape on mine was not think enough to make contact there with the trunk surface. If you didn't have any problems, what kind of tape did you use (brand, thickness)? ignore him, he'll go away.
RacerX100
http://products3.3m.com/catalog/us/en001/home_leisure/-/node_GSKHZW2N49gs/root_GST1T4S9TCgv/vroot_GSHCV1ZFXKge/bgel_GSG24GVNDSbl/gvel_6HW982Z1M1gl/theme_us_homeleisure_3_0/command_AbcPageHandler/output_html There are no gaps between the spoiler and the trunk lid. Hopefully that won't change! The tape I used was twice the width of the original so maybe that helped.
one69chev
nice spoiler.....3m adhesive tape is what most OEM's use to mount the plastic accents on new cars.... most pontiac grand ams have an average of about 22 lb.s of tape alone.......
