TbirdMan
So, my woes with my charging system were not solved with a new battery or a replaced alternator (not new so could be bad but looks fairly new so i doubt it). It won't charge. Voltage is around 12V with car off, drops to about 11V when running, but no battery light. If i turn the car off the battery light comes on even if there is no key in the ignition. As i said in my previous post there seemed to be a heavy draw on at the fusible link with the car off, but unfortunately that seems to have stopped before I could trace it out. I am gonna check my grounds, anything else to look into?
TbirdMan
ok, looking at my wiring diagrams in the FSM, it looks to me like the only way the charging indicator can light without the brake light is if the ignition switch circuit is grounded? I know all indications point to a bad alternator, but that lit charging light is what is throwing me. it shouldn't light on it's own, and definitely not with the key off. corlon
what happens to the battery light if the alternator is disconnected?
