hal9e3
Hey, gang, I may be moving to beautiful Rochester, NY, from Cowtown (aka Fort Worth), TX soon and was wondering about a couple of things. First, are snows required/desirable/other (I have Conti DWS's now). Also, should I switch out my Carbotech Bobcats for a more polar-friendly pad, and if so which one(s)? AZP Installs
Pads should be fine. The DWS will work up there but dedicated snows are probably a better idea if the budget allows. -Mike Paisan http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/91072632.jpg http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/145749898/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/133406601.jpg http://www.whiteline.com.au/images/logos/perf1.jpg 11+ Years Maintaining, Modifying and Educating TriState Subaru Enthusiasts. minuccims
If you stick with the Bobcats, they will not perform well until the rotors warm up.
hal9e3
If you stick with the Bobcats, they will not perform well until the rotors warm up. Yeah, that's what I'm worried about. They don't do that well on the first stop in balmy Austin, TX, my current abode. I can't imagine how impotent they'll be at 0 deg!
StoplightAssassin
You ever hear the term "lake effect snow"? You will! Get dedicated snows. You will need them.

minuccims
I went with Wagner QuickStops. Inexpensive and dang work fine. Thermoquiets are also good. Shims integrated into the plate so chance of vibration reduced. Looks like they changed the thermoquiets since I bought them for the other car. They may be better than the quick stops now. http://www.tqbrakepads.com/product_technology/ http://www.fme-cat.com/Application.aspx?year=2010&make=SUBARU&model=LEGACY&engine=H4%202.5L%202458CC%20EJ255%20TURBO&subm=2.5GT&cat=Brake
hal9e3
N/M, job fell thru. Maybe next time. Thanks for the cold weather advice. If any of ya'll are ever down Dallas/Fort Worth/Austin way post on the South Central forum or PM me. We have a pretty good group in Dallas and there's decent contingent in Austin as well. Additionally, Cobb Tuning is here in Austin and they have a meet at their shop the first Thursday every month. Tons of different cars show up - it's a pretty good event. minuccims
Oh, well, enjoy the Bobcats; the best pads I've had on the car yet (OEM, Brembos F/R (Stoptech, HPS, Wagner Quick Stop, Bobcats)
