As I understand it, this valve should open and close as the engine revs. However, it doesn't seem to move at all. I can open it manually while the car is idling, which causes the RPMs to drop. I took the video below to demonstrate. I took it off and cleaned it all over, and it seems to move smoothly (the spring holding it closed is pretty strong.) Am I missing something? Maybe this only moves once the engine is warmed up? (Sorry for the vertical video.) Stang70Fastback Posted January 14, 2013 Author Share Posted January 14, 2013 A lot of them are hard to pull off. The best thing to do is twist it. Works on almost all the hoses, just pinch and twist and it should "snap" free kind of like breaking a bolt free and then it will just slide right off. spooln30 Posted January 20, 2013 Share Posted January 20, 2013 Yes the engine needs to be warm before they work. If you ever have an egr issue on a vacuum type egr valve just apply vacuum to the hose off the valve and the engine should want to die out of even shut off.
