nickb98c
I just cant bring myself to spend 270 to 290 on a K&N short ram intake. So instead I tossed around the idea of building my own system, using an AVO or K&N filter mounted to an MAF tube, and then elbows to the induction pipe. That way, I could place the actual filter farther away from the engine, but not all the way in the bumper. Any thing I should watch out for? Any feedback would be great too. Like I said, Just an idea.
drsnobiz
What about the MAF sensor? Where you gonna put that in? I've got an AVO MAF hose and have been contemplating the same. Do they make a short tube that's sole purpose is to house the MAF sensor?
testes1010
Contact Matt at http://www.KSTech.biz he fabricates quality intakes at a fraction of the cost of a K&N. I'm running a KSTech CAI, very happy with it.
PhilT
You have to be very careful with intakes on these cars. A badly designed intake will cause turbulence in the airflow and cause the MAF to believe less air is flowing than what actually is. The ECU will then reduce the fuel and you will end up running lean. The knock sensor will then start pulling timing and you will end up with less power than before. CasopoliS
just use the stock intake, or pick up a K&N or AEM intake for cheap on the boards. Get a tune for whatever you do.
