Accident today ... GRRRRR

Well i created a diagram to better explain what happened.

The blue line is the movement of my car with the box representing were the colision occured; the yellow line is the movement of his car and the box is were he hit me. He exited his private drive, went against traffic into the median. Not seeing him, i didnt even look that direction, as i would not expect traffic to come from that direction, being that it is a one way road, i prepare to exit the median. I have not stopped as i am not required too. Then i hear a CLUNK. We get out. His car is out in the middle of the road and he insist i move back to let him clear traffic. I really didnt want to move, but he pressed me to. He then ask me if im going to call the cops, i tell him i kinda have to lol. I move my car back and i can tell the from left wheel isnt moving, im going 'Oh shit' at this point. He told the cop that another cop told him he could go against traffic to enter the median. The cop replied, "What cop told you that". The cop gave him a ticket for negligent driving. He basically tries to put the blame on me saying it happend more in the middle of the median and that i wasnt paying attention, well if it happened in the middle, why is your car out in the middle of the road mother fucker lol. And i didnt have to pay attention, you were coming from the WRONG SIDE OF THE ROAD!!! (rant off)

 

My car is of course not drive able and required a tow to the dealership. The guy who was driving the other car went off as soon as the cop let him not realizing how much damage he did to my car, or so my dad and i thought. To cop took measurements while we waited for the tow truck to come.

 

It seems like he was going to make it 100% the other drivers fault. We see no reason why he shouldnt. The police report comes out tomarrow.

As you can see from the pictures, the wheel is pretty much into the houseing. The A frame is bent and the control arm is bent, there could be other damage as well, but that was the visual assisment. The tire is damage but i think the rim is ok.

 

I'm calling the body shop tomarrow for the estimate and such. And will probably file a claim with his insurance company soon too.

 

The only think that really bothers me about this is that im afraid the car isnt going to be the same again .... with the control arm damaged and all.

As long as you take it to a good shop, they'll replace broken components and align everything and it shouldn't be a big deal. The biggest impact on the performance of your car in that case will likely be your perception with the accident hanging in your conscience.

 

Goes to show that it always pays to look everywhere you can, although we're all guilty of assuming that areas that should be clear are, even when it's not the most prudent thing to do.

I looked into the median as i was entering, there was no one there, so i entered it. I never even saw the guy. I would have seen children if they were there however.

now you have a good excuse to replace the rims/tires/shocks/springs with something nice as well

I really don't respect those f****kers who won't accept responsibility. Like my last accident when a bitch did not f***ing look and just pulled her stinking minivan in front of my Honda, of course paniced and just stoped in front of me so I could nicely t-bone her. Baaam! I was going like 30 mph (speed limit 35), but the bitch claimed I was f****ing speeding!!!! Yeah, flying.... bitch. Luckily the cop took measurements of my skid marks and wrote an accident report that wasted the bitch.

Since i have to replace one tire anyway, i mindas well put the Pirelli's i have wanted for some time anyway. They they are cheaper than the RE 92's soo.

UPDATE ... the accident report came out today, basically this guy who hit me is screwed. There is really no way his insurance company are going to be able to even split this 50/50. It says the guy who hit me traveled 35' in the wrong lane. Soo this is pretty much a done deal. My parents and I just have to get the ball rolling, talk to my insurance company, then deal with his companies interogation lol. Hopefully i will have the car back like new in a few weeks lol.

Yeah that is infuriating. Whats funny is a very similar thing happened to me a couple years ago, and I got charged with fault!!! My insurance company even told me that because the other car was exiting a private drive, that I should always have right of way. The cop wrote me at fault (probably for being young), and let the other guy off. I was furious.

 

Anyway, sorry to hear about the accident, but I'm glad you aren't getting screwed like I did.
