YourConfused
Not finding what I wanted via search, I am wanting to know what battery everyone is using and why. Brand: ? Size: ? CCA rating: ? Opinions: ? I am going to be installing a FMIC and am looking to gain ample clearance around the positive terminal section of the IC pipe to avoid obvious complications associated with this section of conductive material being in close proximity to the battery. I am interested in Braille's batteries but have never owned one and Interstate has been letting me down as of late. I see we have an alternate battery size of 26R. It's a smaller and weaker battery in conventional form in comparison to the stock offering. Luckily we have a lower CR than a modern NA motor which should allow for the use of a smaller battery in warmer climates. (I live in TX) I am not increasing battery load via electrical additions like aftermarket stereo amplifiers, so this thing just needs to be small yet adequate to turn over a stock motor. If I botched up the search function please let me know while providing a link to help me out. Thanks.
ibr_adam09
I did a battery relocation on mine. I was "fed up" with having to keep removing my fmic pipes to get to the battery. Also it's easier when I need to access maintenance. Turns out I can get the spark plugs even with my driver side pipes on. With the battery gone theres just so much retail space Im running an Optima Yellow Top, but only for vent issues, since It's in the trunk now. You can see how I can still get to plugs or anything else and also I had to extend the starter wire with 4awg. the battery + is 1awg all the way to the back. Everything is fused, but I want to add a circuit breaker. http://i344.photobucket.com/albums/p330/ibr_adam09/photo1-22.jpg http://i344.photobucket.com/albums/p330/ibr_adam09/photo2-22.jpg http://i344.photobucket.com/albums/p330/ibr_adam09/photo3-16.jpg

Beanboy
Just went with a Costco/BJ sale battery that met OEM specs. Have a fmic and there is clearance (couple of inches). Battery isn't too tough to remove and there's no real frequent service items being hidden by stock location -B http://www.standardshift.com

Looks like a good job and a cool space to mount the meth reservoir.

Battery isn't too tough to remove and there's no real frequent service items being hidden by stock location The group 35 550 CCA that is in the car seems to be hogging up to much space to me. It is good confirmation though that it is doable with a FMIC. What is the make of your FMIC, as that may have something to do with the fitment given differing tubing sizes among various brands?
