Outback XT Exhaust.

Recommended Posts

Why hello everyone. I have a fun question for you all! OR mainly anyone who has tinkered with their Outback XT. Im looking to purchase one, but im wondering what stuff might fit on it from pervious years. I used to have a 2002 Subaru WRX but thats long gone but parts still remain, but i now have a 2011 Subaru Legacy 3.6r (Yeahhhhhhh Wooooo lol). and a few months back i got a set of nameless axelback mufflers for it, but they were too loud. They were from a 2009 wrx sedan. or at least made for them. I now have a set of Perrin axel back on the 3.6 and it sound super sexy. but my question is, Will the other ones fit? If so, i might buy this one im looking at. Silly question but i figured id ask before droping the dough.

Thanks in advance!

Did you modify the exhaust tips at all?

I'm currently interested in a 3" CBE, unless I can be convinced otherwise.

Just built my motor and upgraded: ELH/uppipe, turbo, injectors, tgv deletes, cai intake, 3 port ebcs, fuel pump, etc... Thinking that it may be more beneficial with the 3" versus a smaller diameter, but I have no evidence or experience to support that, lol.

Also Kongzilla, I really like how you opened up your bumper skin for your FMIC, did you put together any walkthrough other then the pictures you posted?

When you cut out the center piece, did you just leave the gap in there or did you cover it in someway?

Sorry, there was no walk through. Not a lot of people have enough courage to cut up their bumpers.

There are gaps but it is not noticable unless you look at it up closely. Its also not flappy either.

I just got a Nameless catback a couple of weeks ago and I love it!

I went with the 5" mufflers and full powdercoat since I am going for stealth looks on a DD. http://i672.photobucket.com/albums/vv87/JoshEAllen/37e02005-6261-4372-b23d-e7fd604eae47.jpg

Nice job. Could you provide an HD sound clip?

seems like we both post in both places =)

have the unmuffled version from sublimejoe! got clips comparing it with a stock 2008 wrx which i can upload later. these sound just the same as if you ran your car without the stock axlebacks. car is stock elsewhere. not doing any engine upgrades.

so i have yet to learn how to reduce the background engine and white noise to recording from the camera as it really interferes with the sound of the exhaust but here are my clips. i maybe will do this again in the near future. maybe the key is to just stand further back when recording

There is no need to PC them since our Outbacks hides them already. You can't even tell we have mufflers because we have no exhaust cut outs.

Maybe on a stock axle back, but the NPE one you can clearly see the tips and the mufflers (since they aren't completely tucked into the body).

yup, imho, the unmuffled ones from the side looks really stupid. looks like just two silver things hanging out the back end randomly

wrxusa, can you see the muffler cans from the side? if you can, i think thats a better look than the unmuffled version.

kongzilla, the AVO mufflers for the outback are practically 1:1 in looks (minus the polish). they hide just like the stock ones do but are insanely $$$$
