deez
Hey all...just finished my car last night...put a vf52, dw 740 injectors, dw 65c pump, catless up and downpipe and gimmick turbo inlet tube. My tune at efi logics is in about 2 weeks and I wanna make sure everything is good before then. So i started and am getting an afr of 17.2 at idle. Me along with everyone I've talked to about it think there's something wrong and with the larger injectors it should be running rich, not lean. I'm going to search for a vacuum leak when I get home from work but was wondering if anyone who's done a similar swap knows what there idle afr was before being tuned. Thanks in advance
odin2347
Did they send you a basemap? If you're driving around on the stock map with unscaled larger injecors you're taking a big risk
FJuan
^^ This. My wife's balls are delicious.
deez
I'm not driving it....simply started it and left at idle to verify nothing major was wrong. I don't wanna get to tuner just to realize something is wrong. Plus I'm going open source as I don't have accessport. I don't have a cable yet..they can send me one next week when there guy gets back from Vaca but will I need a specific cable?
deez
So can anyone answer the original question? Couldn't find any leaks but I still would think it should be running rich and not lean
micha3lchu
hmm, can you explain why it would run rich?
deez
It has bigger injectors than it thinks it has...
Spyder
Are you sure that you have all your vacuum lines hooked up? Because 17.2 is super lean and can lead to you blowing it up
deez
Pretty sure... i did the old starter fluid spray test yesterday with no rpm jumps...
Spyder
Is your maf sensor clean start with basics.. Im doing the same swap except I didnt get injectors or a fuel pump. I was really rich because my maf sensor wasnt facing the right direction because I thought a wrx intake would be the same but it wasnt so I was rich but try clesning your maf sensor. Do you have any codes? Look at any live data you can like yiur fuel trims and your map sensor . Does it begin to get richer if you add some throttle ? All things to look for unless something isnt hooked up right
spec.B Dream
Is the inlet fully seated on the turbo? If not, it could be pulling in unmetered air. Inlets are a pain.
deez
Yea. The inlet was not fun putting in...the bpv hose wasn't quite right but I fixed it and checked everything else. Couldn't find a leak. And it's still goes down to same afr once it warms u and idle goes down. It seems to run rich when I give it a little gas but still lean at idle... Spyder
Do you have proper fuel pressure
deez
Good question. I did put in the 65c pump but haven't checked. I'll do that now
deez
36lbs so that seems fine
Spyder
Hows the maf sensoe look is it clean
deez
Yes. It's clean. I just logged a little the only way I currently can. Started logging let it idle for a min. Then gave it a little gas. Maybe to 3k rpm. Looks like the car thinks it had 14.7 afr the entire time. Not once did it change at all. I'll try to show the file here but not sure how
Spyder
Something is telling your car to add more air or less fuel. You have spark and its either an air or fuel issue.

odin2347
You're running a larger than stock turbo, aftermarket downpipe, and aftermarket fueling with no engine management and you're expecting it to run without issue?
deez
No. I'm expecting it to idle rich.
deez
I just am trying to make sure nothing is wrong mechanically before my tuning appt. And I really think there is
Spyder
Your fuel ratio lpoks fine at idle and even with the flux of rpm . As it warms up the coolant temp the timing advances everything is fine I dont see your fuel ratio is 14.7 consistent which isnt bad . I dony see what your worried about
deez
That 14.7 reading is off the ecu. My wideband is telling me it's getting down to 17. I calibrated it and checked with butane
Spyder
I have an accessport and I dont have a wide band and at idke I am between 14.2 and 14.
