tbssubaru
I can't seem to find a factory connector near either side rear tail-light. Has anyone installed a plug and play trailer wiring kit on their car ? I'm hoping it's not a splice only option ....
johnegg
only the outbacks came with a trailer connector. good luck.

tbssubaru
great , so i should be able to go to a junkyard and hack off the wiring connector from an outback and splice that in
I Donated broknindarkagain Posted July 31, 2011 I Donated Share Posted July 31, 2011 probably. I'm not sure how they are wired in. I have an Outback, but mine doesn't have the connector so I cant look to see how its done. I can't imagine it being too hard. -broknindarkagain My Current Project - Click Here COME AND TAKE IT "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." tbssubaru
ok hang on, i thought all outbacks and forresters were 'supposed' to have the connector !
johnegg
the connector in the outback is located behind the driver side tail light. open the inside cover, above and to the rear of the jack storage compartment, like you would to replace the bulb and it should be right in there. the only difference between the GT and the outback MAY be that the outback has a wire with 12v all the time when the car is on which goes to the trailer conector. i'm not sure the same wire is there on the GT or legacy. I Donated broknindarkagain Posted July 31, 2011 I Donated Share Posted July 31, 2011 It should be there I would think. Dont they use the same harnesses? And I had no idea the connector was hidden away. I figured it would be under the car...I didn't remember seeing any wiring down there -broknindarkagain My Current Project - Click Here COME AND TAKE IT "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." I believe it is under $20 and takes 15 mins to install -Subikid90 1997 Legacy GT 5spd & EJ251 w/EJ25D heads ~10.5CR 1998 Legacy GT Limited waiting for EJ22T hybrid swap
tbssubaru
went to pick n pull and grabbed the connector off a 98 outback , it was right there behind the bulb access panel for the drivers tail-light , seems dumb they did not use the same harness for the non outback legacy
