Probably Changing clutch, what to do at the same time?

So I'm probably changing my clutch soon as it's starting to slip. Gonna try to do it ourselves. Is there anything else I should change while the transmission is out? I was thinking transmission mounts, shift bushings and maybe a short throw. Anything else that when it's apart would be beneficial to change?

I would do those three, and also maybe the transmission bushings too. The STS and shifter bushing don't really need to be done with the tranny out, although it may make install a little easier.

I just figure since im down there. Anything else that has to come off need to be replaced?

Bushings are very easy with the transmission off the car, you'll love it.

Front diff if you have the $. It comes very highly recommended for spirited driving and early power out of corners. I wish I had the dough for one but the wife would kill me.

haha...deff don't have the money for a front diff. I think group n tranny mount and rallitek shifter bushings are the things I'm thinking now. Any suspension goodies while I'm down there?

2) I don't believe the TSK3 is available for the 2.5i's. That was the conclusion I came to last time I checked. Says its only avail for turbo models.

^^that is what i've also concluded

at most, the biggest gains in terms of diffs would be the rear lsd from the GTs, considering that we don't have a lsd to begin with.

TSK1 should be for non turbo models with 5mts.

1. It can't hurt but it isn't really needed

2. The 5MT gearbox is the same GT or not it only says Turbo only b/c they never tested it on a 2.5i. Also the stock TOB pack has the clips to hold it in place i would skip the TSK3.

 

3. Keep in mind that stiffer mounts means more vibration in the cabin potentiall and more noise overall.

eh, I don't mind a little noise anyone ever done the rear diff bushings from rallitek? Supposed to get rid of the shifting clunk

Shoot, didn't know there were different versions of the TSK available.

I have the whiteline rear diff inserts and really didn't notice a difference other than it eliminating some of the clunk under hard shifting. No increase in NVH for me. Surely worth 30 bucks.

how many miles have you gotten out of your clutch now that you are looking to change it out? Mine is at 62k so I'm interested to see how much more life I can expect out of it (its still pretty solid except for a little chatter everynow and then in the cold) I'd be interested to see how your experience goes because the subaru is pretty easy to work on, and it's one of the few cars I would actually consider doing the clutch myself.

I'm at like 699xx. It's getting towards the end of it's life I think. I'll have more details on the change and stuff in a couple of weeks

oh wow... I thought these clutches were good for at least 100k. Well mine is in pretty good shape. If it goes out at 70k I'll definitely be doing it myself! haha

it was fine until recently. the previous owner towed his harley with it i guess so that could have something to do with it. It's starting to grab pretty close to the end and occasionally slips. I think it may just be better to do it now than later.
