mike007
They are done and going on Friday, 06 OB XT with Duplicolor Gunmetal, just finished and also did the calibers in Blk.
N.sane
Looks good! I was considering the gunmetal, but I opted for bronze for my 1st paint job and then did flat black the 2nd time. The Duplicolor stuff is really strong and holds up against the weather really well. FYI if you're ever re-painting them again, it'll save you a lot of time if you use index cards and slide them between the wheel and tire instead of tape/newspaper

snojobz
How long did you give the paint to dry? does the can say 24-48 hour or so?
N.sane
Duplicolor stuff dries really fast. I drove after around 5 hours.
GTTuner
Did you use the base coat clear coat wheel paint? I did the wifes Saab wheels with that stuff and I was impressed at how nice the finish came out. Nice job!
05lgt5spd
Im in for the best way to do it. I know powdercoating is the best, but is there a way to paint them to hold up to winter driving?
mike007
Thanks replies: GTtuner / snojobz: I used 2 coats of the duplicolor self-etching primer, 4 coats of gunmetal, 4 coats of clear. all sat under a heatlamp for 3 days before I put back on and drove. I took the week off and did the brakes, handsfree kit, and some minor tune up stuff so I gave it plenty of time to set.

snojobz
Mike007, looks great, im gonna have to get around to painting mine. Did you bother taking wheel weights off or just tape around them? I should probably get my wheels balanced before I paint them...
mike007
thanks i just taped the weights on the inside, I would definitely have them balanced before you paint.
