silverone
Simple question I'm sure it's been brought up before but I can't find it. Will a 98 generation two five speed standard not a limited work in a 99 generation three limited they are both legacy outback's with 5mt's Thanks in advance
babybaluga32
Yes if the ratios are the same. It will bolt up even if they aren't the same. There's a lot of fairly simple searching to make sure. http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/transmission-compatibility-question-152850.html
Zues Marine
Wasn't there a discrepancy between '98 and '99 that made it incompatible?
silverone
Thanks for the responses the reason I was wanting to know is there was a lady selling a 98 outback standard and a 99 Outback Ltd. One had a bad five speed I'm not sure if they both ran or not, but I missed out on the deal anyway she wanted $1000 for both should allow the head and bought them I could have parted them out and made money while using some parts for my son's 97 that we are doing a motor swap on. I was thinking I could get one of them up and running for me as well. Oh well there will be other deals down the road
