I own a 1997 Subaru Liberty (AUDM Legacy), and, not sure if any/many other people have done this conversion, but about 12 months ago i had an ez30r motor put into my car. This is the 180kw (240HP) version from the MY05+ Legacy 3.0R-B and with a few mods is making 145kw (193HP) and 350Nm (260 ft/lbs) at the wheels through a MY00 Legacy RX 8 bolt 5 speed box... I've had the ocassional problem, such as stray current through my aluminium radiator eating holes through it and leaking coolant everywhere, and issues with the tune (running a ViPEC V88 ECU) that cause relatively poor fuel economy (12.5l/100km (about 19MPG) on highway and >15l/100km (about 15MPG) in city driving), but other than that, it's been relatively smooth sailing so far she has run a 14.2 @ 96MPH down the quarter and i'm hoping after a retune and another 10kw or so (i want 200HP+ at the wheels), that she'll crack into the 13s... and she puts most street cars to shame, including V8s and Turbos... and it's funny because people just don't expect it from a stock looking liberty list of mods: EZ30R motor 4.11 5 speed box and diff Custom CAI Custom Extractors 3" Catback Exhaust (yes it's loud!) Blaeven Posted February 24, 2010 Author Share Posted February 24, 2010 it's been tuned, it had to be for me to be able to drive it (it's a full aftermarket computer)... it was just tuned to pass the emissions test (which it did, not only did it pass for the year of the car, which was the requirement, but also for the year of the motor, which is pretty epic... getting a car from 1997 to pass 2005 emissions standards is awesome!)... retune should make some more power... i feel like anything <200 is not the full potential of the car... although i've seen stock ones only make 165hp atw... so i guess 195 isn't too bad huh? Blaeven Posted February 25, 2010 Author Share Posted February 25, 2010 A guy here in oz twinturboed his at 6psi and made over 300hp and 600Nm at the wheels and yeh, it feels great to have non-turbo that can stick it to the local v8 mob (so what if you have 300hp atw?
