Head Gasket - 2003 Subaru Outback Legacy H6

I was just informed from my mechanic (private, independent) that my 2003 Subaru Outback Legacy H6 may actually need a Head Gasket replacement.

 

He advised me to buy the whole kit from the Internet.

 

1) Which website would you recommend to buy this type of part for the 2003 Subaru Outback Legacy H6?

 

2) Is there any Manufacturer recall from Subaru Corporation?

 

3) How much is a fair labor rate to pay for this job?

 

4) How much is a fair price to pay for the part only online via Internet?

 

5) What website would you recommend?

 

My name is Richard. I am in the Hartford, Connecticut area.

I have about 198,000 miles on it. It is a 10 year old vehicle.

 

Any thoughts/suggestions would be welcomed and appreciated.

I've been going through him for parts on my engine build, super knowledgable, easy to work with, will tell you when you do and don't need (if you're looking for the opinion of course).

I'm sure he could give you a quote for the labor too.
