dark_thorns
I've got a 1998 Subaru Legacy GT 5-speed and am currently enrolled in a machining class in school. I'm thinking of making a shift knob for my car but am having a hard time finding out the thread size for it. What size are the threads and what size hole would I need to mill for the shifter? would 1/2" deep allow for enough threads? What holds the boot on? dark_thorns
Do I need to have something on the shift knob itself to hold the boot up or is it just a ring that holds the shift knob on?
JJay03
Do I need to have something on the shift knob itself to hold the boot up or is it just a ring that holds the shift knob on? Well the factory knob has that black plastic piece that attaches to the knob. You could always wrap tape or something around the shifter to hold up the boot though. bizmackus
I made this knob for my 99 lgt. I just copied the shift boot retainer that is part of the OEM shift knob. Works great!
