masterxtech Posted February 9, 2009 Share Posted February 9, 2009 have any lgt 05 owners blown their head gasket? if so how did you know it was blown? any signs... i dont know why my car is overheating at idle... when im driving it returns to normal... but when i sit at a light for extended periods of time the temp gauges slowly climbs.. i tried replacing the thermostat and burping the coolant... went away for a few weeks then today after a trip to big bear it came back... Max Capacity Posted February 11, 2009 Share Posted February 11, 2009 Check for milky colored engine oil = anti-freeze in the oil. lots of white smoke out the exhaust = blown HG compression test is also a good way to tell. have a garage test for HC at the radiator cap 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs.
