2007 dumps water onto seat

I went to a dealership today, just after it rained. I sat in the drivers seat of an '07 gt and rain kept dropping from the top of the frame unto my leg (and the seat, once i moved). That's a deal killer for me - i don't want a wet leg everytime it rains.

 

Anyone else run into this problem? Is it common? If so, are 2006 and 2008 the same?

 

Heh, one interesting thing: the sales woman wouldn't let me test drive it cuz the roads were wet.

you could order JDM's rain guard to give you better protection from the water.

I'm assuming this problem occurred when you opened the door?

 

It's pretty common on a lot of cars. My 1987 Audi 4000 had rain gutters to prevent this but I haven't seen too many cars with rain gutters anymore.

Really? 2 years back, my bro and I test drove the new Legacy and the saleswoman said, "Gee, too bad its not raining. Thats the best time to take a test drive."

She took us on some fun back roads anyway.

 

And my LGT does have the rain gutters. I didn't realize the new ones didn't. Thought it was pretty common among all cars.

Only a problem if you leave the window open while sitting in the rain. Not a problem when the car is moving.

i am actually getting rain guards because it is a problem when driving....moreso turning....all the water on the roof channels right in through my window.

 

i'm wierd about fresh air o mywindows are always cracked if not all the way open.

Hmm... I've never really had a problem with water entering the window or getting my leg wet. And I always have at least two windows cracked and usually one all the way open also.

Maybe you need to drive faster. j/k.

On mine, the "gutters" do very little good in keeping the water from getting into the window.... but like someone else said close the ******* windows and the problem is fixed.

i am surprised you didn't complain about water leaking off the trunk lid into the trunk. THAT bothers me.

I've never had rain involuntary find its way into the car, there will always be water that will drip when the door is opened, probably just another side effect of the frameless windows.

umm, maybe you guys are opening the door wrong cuz my 05GT doesn't drip water in when I open the door

only problem I had is it was very hot at night and then suddenly cooled in the AM. I opened the windows and the sunroof, only to stop at the first light and get sloshed with water

Nope, read my post above - my last two Subarus (both had frameless windows) did not drip like my 05 does.

 

Gotcha, i've never experienceed this rainy door dripping like some of you have, I was just shooting ideas out.

 

Sadly, Canon20D, I did the exact same thing, all the roof water poured in at the first stop sign.

This is definitely a "problem" with me. I'm a smoker and have the drivers windows open an inch or so when smoking. If it's raining/has rained and I take a right turn.... soaked. Solution.. I don't smoke in the car. Bonus interior smell improvement.

 

I think the people who don't see this problem are those who don't wax their cars possibly? Freshly waxed plus rain = loads of water beading and POURING in one direction or the other. If your window is open, you will get wet.

I drive an '08. Definitely get the 'car wash' and now I have been more careful.

 

I've had the sunroof dump on me when I stoped like others, let's say it only happens once

 

Also after a night of rain or even heavy dew if I have my windows open RIGHT when I pull out I have gotten the side window shower when I turn. My solution: drive for maybe 5 minutes, by that time most of the water should have blown off your car and it's safe to open the windows. This of course doesn't work so well if it's raining, but for the post-rain situations it works for me.

 

I would invest in some rain guard if they weren't expensive or tacky, but I think the JDM ones are around $200 if I saw correctly, and I'm not sure how they look either.

Maybe we can get SOA to bring back the "fly window" - for you young bucks, that's the old school triangular window that tilted out for ventilation. Last car I had with those was an '81 Escort. I really liked them, though!

Yes, it is a race to get the door shut before all the water on top of the car runs over the side. I tried telling my girlfriend she had to get the door shut one time after she got in and she shot me 'the look' which was almost immediately followed by the shower. It was comical...

haha, now the question is did she continue with the look but exponentially worse or was she embarrassed? haha

I have an '05 and I get this all the time after a storm. I love it when I crack the window while moving and I have no problem, then I hit the first red light and get a stream of water in my lap.
