BC vs ISC vs Tein vs Ksport etc

So I went to the Subaru dealership and was quoted $1400 for struts. So that right there is my motivation for switching to coilovers. The suspension will not be used for much more than daily driving and putting a set of 18x8.5 wheels underneath- aka I dont need anything crazy when it comes to the setup. What coilovers are recommended through the forum members? Any companies that I should steer away from? I will continue to search and read reviews, I just figured if there was one company preferred and proven more than another, the forum members would know. Thanks!

Noob= fx300? I figure I just want quick install and something that I can live with day to day.

Then get konis and springs.

There are lots coilovers that are great for daily driving... But you can't afford them.

What he's saying is $1200 isn't enough for good coils. Struts and springs are a much better alternative for most looking to install and forget about them in that price range. If you want to spend double and get good coils, you should be using them for what they are worth.

Koni or bilstien hd struts + a good spring, even used will work for most DD'ers looking for a OEM fix.

I guess I'll just have to do more research on strut and spring combinations. I figured labor for coilovers would be cheaper and the performance would still be acceptable. I had KSports on my DSM and didnt have any issues with those, daily driven. Figured the same train of thought would go with this vehicle.

Shitty coilovers are shitty. I had GREAT coilovers, as OEM as you could get, and even they were a bit much for a DD.

I went the Bilstein HD and pink spring route, but I have an outback. I would have done koni's if I had an LGT.

get coils well worth the 900 dollars, id go with bcs, i have them and love them, the ride isnt bad being you can adjust dampening to soften up the ride. For the price of a good spring and strut combo you can have coils! Save you self the trouble, ive had nothing but bad experiences with strut and spring combos tried it all, they either make noise, ride like crap, blow out , or sit uneven!

Why does someone need coilovers on the street? I've yet to run into a set of cheap coilovers that could come even CLOSE to matching the ride quality of a Blistein or Koni setup.

Which strut and spring combos have you tried? None of the things you've mentioned have occured on ANY of the strut/spring combo's I've owned or driven, but they explain EXACTLY what happens with EVERY crappy coilover I've ever seen, installed, or driven.

Coilovers: There are comfortable coilovers, reliable coilovers and cheap coilovers. There are none that are all three.

Get the Konis and a slightly stiffer spring.

Obligatory 'build thread' Increased capacity to 2.7 liters, still turbo, but no longer need spark plugs.

i mean i guess it really depends on what you want as far as ride and height. i dont mean to knock or hate on struts and springs, there are some decent set ups, if i had to absolutley go with spring and struts i would say go with konis and the spring of your choice. ive tried a few set ups and had noise issues and height issues with rear sagging. Just my oppion though as i said im not hating on struts.

What setups have you had noise issues and height issues with?

bilsteins were way high in front with rallitek springs and saggy in rear, stock struts made noise with springs and konis were ok but i still wasnt happy the way the height was and thats when i went with bc coils. Havent had any noise issues or anything since. coulkd have been ralliteks crappy spring though idk?
