Yebbey
I would have searched this but I dont' know what it is called. I was wondering if there was any functional purpose of the black peice under the bumper in the back. Is there any reason I shouldn't have it painted over? Someone hit my bumper so I figured i'd see how much it would cost to paint that whole thing.
sIlvErsUbAru22
Its considered "raw" and is a little harder for a painter to paint, plus it would chip easier. It can be done but its a matter of preference.

mbacis
Just paint your car black, then it'll match.
BrownBoy
I like it black. Sets off the back nicely. Doesn't make the car look like it has a fat butt either.

Germans have been using this trick for a very long time. I personally like it. Give the car a lil extra definion in my opinon.
Yebbey
hmm...well, now that y'all point it out, I suppose it does keep the back from looking fatter. So just looks, no real function.
crafty
I like the blk, and feel it breaks it up - nice detail A painted one simply looks like it was in an accident. If it were painted - some would want it blk, because it would be different. IMO
