Jdubgt530
So I did my head gaskets on my car with the engine in. And the tail end of it but my engine won't go back into to place. It drops onto the cross member about .5" off of the mount holes any ideas what I can do?
johnegg
did you remove the ''dog bone'' trans mount at the top center on the fire wall? that makes a huge difference.
Jdubgt530
I took out the dog bone still have problems. I talked to my buddies mechanic and he said to lift it from the trannypan to lift it up level and it will drop right in
monkeyposeur
Lube up the mounting pins with grease and that will help. An engine leveler attachment for the cherry picker allows you to tilt the engine which also helps. Jacking up the trans is a good technique as long as you are careful where you mount the jack. Jdubgt530
My buddies mechanic said that just from the tranny pan will do the trick with a wood block onto of the jack. Just need to bring it up level because my current problem is that since I did my head gaskets and head replacement in the engine bay I jacked the engine up making the engine tilt up as I jacked it up from the oil pan. So this better work since I will be lifting it level not at a tilt.
