AmirK
i did this in the middle of summer. then i totaled the car and bought a forester, so i took the lift out. So now i'm selling what i used to give me about a 2 inch lift. kby gr2 struts built for outbacks, and king rally springs also for the outback. everything is completely plug and play between outback and legacy for these years. i'm asking 550 for the whole setup, or 400 for just spings, and 200 for just struts. plus shippin from NH. here are some photos of before and after. xero287
The car is so high that a person can easily fit underneath the car to do suspension work/oil changes.
AmirK
haha oh i gotcha. yeah, once i put the lift in oil changes were a breeze. no jacking, no ramps. just slide under and do the work. its a beautiful thing

shutterbc
This is really interesting. After bottoming out on the Appalachian Trail, I know of a few instances where I could use the extra ride height. How did it affect handling for you? AmirK
its sold now, but it made my handling better since i put in the rally springs and the kyb struts. the tires made my handling worse though

keviwe
I hope you can help. I have an 07 Legacy 2.5i with 85K. My struts are leaking. I'm looking for a stock feel for my DD 1. Where can I find a "how to" guide to replace front & rear struts? 2. Who makes struts with a lifetime warranty? (a local shop is offering a NAPA strut supposedly with a lifetime warranty) 3. My rear end seems to sag a bit. How can I raise it maybe an inch or so? (I tow a small ATV trailer)...Maybe get some used Outback springs for the rear (on a tight budget) or do I need Outback springs in front too to raise the car in a level way? Fat Charlie
The Napa with a supposed lifetime warranty probably does have a lifetime warranty. Every time I've bothered to ask them about warranty, the less expensive version had a 12 month and the more expensive one had a lifetime. Your best bet is to call Napa, ask about struts for your car and ask about the warranty. That'll probably confirm what your shop is telling you. blmpkn
What size tires are those? I want to lift my leggy but I really don't want to drop 400 bucks on springs. I was thinking just slap on oe outback struts and springs. From what I've read that should give me an additional inch? And would be cheaper. What's the biggest tire you can put on an outback? I already have outback stock size wheel/tire combo on my car 215 50 17. Could I fit a 215 60 with the ob struts?
nitrochris
AmirK, do you know if the shocks and struts are the only suspension parts difference between a Legacy and Outback? I had wondered if the control arms etc might be different as well. I have a 08 Legacy 2.5i, and wouldn't mind going to the additional ground clearance at some point. Did you just bring it in for a full wheel alignment after the swap? Did you notice any gas millage difference after the swap? Also does anyone know if the XT Outback shocks and struts are stiffer than the 2.5i versions? I like the idea of stiffer suspension to help compensate for the higher ride height. Thanks, Chris
